  • Publication number: 20240008413
Abstract: A combine harvester includes a feederhouse configured to convey a crop material from a harvesting header, a threshing system configured to receive the crop material from the feederhouse and separate straw therefrom, and a cleaning system below the threshing system and configured to separate grain from chaff of the crop material. The cleaning system includes a reversible return system configured to receive the crop material from the threshing system, a grain pan below the return system, at least one oscillating grate configured to receive the crop material from the grain pan, and a blower configured to direct air rearward and upward through the oscillating grate. The return system delivers the crop material to a forward end of the grain pan in a first operating mode, and to a rearward end of the grain pan in a second operating mode. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20240008402
Abstract: A cleaning system for a combine harvester has a chaffer and a blower configured to direct air rearward and upward through the chaffer. The chaffer has a perforated base, a plurality of longitudinal lateral walls, and a plurality of airbags, each of which is disposed adjacent to a lateral wall. An air supply is configured to inflate at least one of the airbags. Another cleaning system for a combine harvester also has a chaffer and a blower configured to direct air rearward and upward through the chaffer. The chaffer has a perforated base, a plurality of longitudinal lateral walls, a plurality of rigid members disposed adjacent to a corresponding lateral wall, and at least one actuator configured to move each rigid member relative to the corresponding lateral wall. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11375667
Abstract: A combine harvester including a frame and two axial-flow crop processing rotors mounted to the frame. An inner support structure is located between the two rotors and is mounted to the frame by a first linkage. Two outer support structures are located outboard of the two rotors and are mounted to the frame by respective second and third linkages. The inner support structure and two outer support structures carry first and second pluralities of concave grate segments at a radial distance from the respective rotors. A concave adjustment system includes a first actuator coupled to the first linkage which is configured to raise and lower the inner support structure. A second actuator is coupled to one of the second and third linkages and is configured to raise and lower at least one of the two outer support structures.

  • Publication number: 20220071098
Abstract: A cleaning mechanism of a combine harvester, for cleaning threshed and separated crop material, including a grain pan for receiving threshed and separated crop material and transporting the crop material rearwardly; a chaffer installed proximate the grain pan for receiving material from the grain pan where the chaffer includes a plurality of longitudinal channels with non-planar surfaces giving each channel a curved or trapezoidal cross section and at least two of the chaffer channels have an asymmetric non-planar surface with a greater part of the surface area facing the side portions of the chaffer; and a fan that causes an air flow through the chaffer to lift up discardable parts from the crop material and transport the discardable parts out of the combine harvester.

  • Publication number: 20220022377
Abstract: A combine harvester includes a cleaning shoe, which has a chaffer, a sieve below the chaffer, a blower configured to direct air rearward and upward through the sieve and the chaffer, and an air channel assembly defining a plurality of longitudinal air channels positioned to receive air from the blower under a forward end of the sieve and deliver the air to a position rearward along a length of the sieve. The air channels are spaced such that the air channel assembly defines free paths between adjacent air channels such that grain falling downward through the sieve does not obstruct rearward air flow through the air channels.

  • Patent number: 6070456
Abstract: Apparatus for evaluating fuel lubricity under elevated pressure conditions is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing including a sidewall defining an enclosed interior cavity adapted for receiving and holding a quantity of the fuel at the elevated temperature and pressure condition, and a port through the sidewall communicating with the interior cavity adapted for receiving a drive rod. A drive rod is positioned to extend through the port, the drive rod having a working end including a chuck adapted for supporting a ball for oscillating movement in the interior cavity of the housing, and an opposite drive end located externally of the housing adapted for connection to a power source operable for moving the drive rod to oscillate the chuck and the ball along a predetermined path of movement in the interior cavity. A seal member extends around the drive rod forming a sealed condition between the drive rod and the housing.
