  • Publication number: 20100252957
Abstract: A method of compacting material such as but not limited to cathode material for electrochemical cells. A mixture is inserted into a die cavity and the mixture is compacted into a disk shape by the action of a first plunger pressing down on the material and a second plunger pressing upwardly on the material. Flashing of material during ejection of the disk from the die is prevented by fitting a polymeric sleeve around the outer surface of the first plunger. The sleeve flexes to bulge outwardly and does not enter the die cavity during compaction of material and returns to its original position during ejection of the compacted disk from the die. Contact between the disk and sleeve prevents flashing during ejection. Alternatively, a polymeric seal ring is placed around the outer surface of the first plunger. The disk presses against the seal ring preventing flashing of material during ejection.

  • Publication number: 20090287069
Abstract: Methods for ischemic conditioning treatments of a chronic medical condition are provided. Baseline disease-related parameters of a patient with a chronic medical condition are measured. Ischemia is induced in the patient by occluding and releasing arterial flow in one or more extremities of the patient. Post-ischemia parameters in the patient are measured. The baseline and post-ischemia parameters are compared to provide an assessment of an ischemic conditioning treatment of a chronic medical condition. The repeated, scheduled delivery of ischemic conditioning provides a beneficial, therapeutic effect on the chronic medical condition. Also provided is a device for pulse oximetry during periods of absent or low pulsatile blood flow including an artificial pulse generator as well as the use of said device in assessment of ischemic conditioning.

  • Patent number: 7273575
Abstract: A composite riser for an archery bow formed from fibers embedded in resin in such a way that resin rich areas, dry fibers and voids are eliminated, providing consistent risers of high quality. The location of structural fibers, such as a carbon fibers or fiberglass composite materials, is ensured within a mold used to form the riser and relative to the resin which bonds the fibers together. Various processes may be used to form the riser with control of the fibers and resin maintained. For example, structural reaction injection molding, liquid composite molding, continuous fiber molding, modified compression molding, resin transfer molding and variable infusion molding processes can be used.

  • Patent number: 7128364
Abstract: A portable, highway legal truck tent made of steel tubing, having a durable cover, and containing two built-in bench seats is disclosed. The truck tent assembles within thirty minutes and once on a truck, it requires no disassembly/reassembly. Because of its durability, the cover will not flutter when driving at fast speeds. The construction/design of the steel tubing frame allows campers to drive to their destinations with the tent already assembled. The mobile tent can remain on the truck bed or be placed on the ground. The frame has poles that extend into the truck bed and lock on the truck tie downs, which are in the form of clamps that hook under the lip of the truck bed. Interlocking pins in the frame of the bench seat allow for enlargement of the bench seat to adjust to varying lengths and widths of different trucks.
