  • Patent number: 11989922
Abstract: A system includes a computing platform having processing hardware, and a memory storing software code. The processing hardware is configured to execute the software code to receive an image having a plurality of image regions, determine a boundary of each of the image regions to identify a plurality of bounded image regions, and identify, within each of the bounded image regions, one or more image sub-regions to identify a plurality of image sub-regions. The processing hardware is further configured to execute the software code to identify, within each of the bounded image regions, one or more first features, respectively, identify, within each of the image sub-regions, one or more second features, respectively, and provided an annotated image by annotating each of the bounded image regions using the respective first features and annotating each of the image sub-regions using the respective second features.

  • Publication number: 20100304638
Abstract: An improved mouth construction for a ventriloquial figure comprises a movable jaw assembly operatively connected to the head of the figure and including a rigidly cast lower jaw member pivotally connected within the head and a pliable lip member formed to fit upon and cover the upper surface of the lower jaw member. The lip member is cast from a rubberlike synthetic polymer, such as silicone rubber, that is first cured in an associated mold and then secured firmly upon the surface of the cast lower jaw member while curing using specially fabricated dual T-shaped bar fasteners embedded between the separate members to mechanically lock them together during the casting process. The resultant mouth construction provides a quite impact between the movable jaw assembly and the upper lip surface of the stationary upper jaw portion of the head and makes the ventriloquial figure more life-like in its operation.

  • Patent number: 7517271
Abstract: There is provided a control mechanism for use with a puppet and puppets adapted for control thereby. One or more single-strand, sheathed cables are adapted for imparting motion to at least one movable part of a puppet. Both longitudinal (i.e., in-and-out) and rotary motions may be imparted to the cables, thereby allowing a wide range of resulting movements of the attached puppet part. In one embodiment, longitudinal movement of the cable strand imparts a flapping motion to the wings of a puppet while rotary motion of the same cable imparts a wagging motion to the puppet's tail. Regardless of whether one or two cables are used, the actuation of the cables may be performed discreetly and out of view of the audience of the puppeteer's show.

  • Patent number: 4986791
Abstract: A puppet includes a body, a head disposed above the body and a flexible spine for connecting the back of the head to the back of the body. A cable assembly is used for actuating the head in vertical and horizontal motion. The cable includes a sheath and a flexible yet stiff cable within the sheath. The sheath is fixedly embedded in the torso of the body. The cable passes through the sheath, out the top of the body and is secured fixedly to the underside of the head in an area corresponding to the neck of the puppet. The cable extends out from a distal end of the sheath.
