  • Patent number: 7743800
Abstract: Sensitive materials are packaged by being inserted into an uncontaminated reservoir of a container assembly without being contaminated during such packaging. The container assembly also includes an uncontaminated sleeve and an uncontaminated film. A lower portion of the sleeve extends from opening in the top of the reservoir and an upper portion of the sleeve is sealed by the film. When the film is broken, the material is inserted into the reservoir. The upper portion of the sleeve is separable from the lower portion of the sleeve. The container assembly also includes a first set of carrier arms attached to the upper portion of the sleeve for facilitating movement of the carrier assembly and a second set of carrier arms attached to the reservoir for facilitating handling and/or movement of the reservoir after the upper portion of the sleeve is separated from the lower portion of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7146781
Abstract: In a system and method for packaging sensitive materials, such as parenteral medications, the materials are reliably packaged by being inserted into an uncontaminated reservoir without being contaminated during such packaging. The reservoir is a component of a container assembly that also includes an uncontaminated sleeve and an uncontaminated film. There is an opening at the top of the reservoir. A lower portion of the sleeve extends from the reservoir opening and an upper portion of the sleeve is sealed by the film. The container assembly is moved into an uncontaminated filling chamber within a confined structure; whereupon the film is penetrated to break the seal and thereby open a passage through the sleeve to the reservoir opening. While the container assembly is still within the filling chamber the sensitive material is inserted into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4450687
Abstract: The invention relates to a temperature responsive control assembly which uses the volumetric expansion of a substance having a high coefficient of expansion, to expel a piston from a cylinder, such movements of the piston relative to the cylinder being used to control relative movements between first and second load elements, such as for example a window and a window frame, with the cylinder being connected to the first load element and the piston being connected by way of a high leverage operating linkage with the second load element, and wherein the thermally expansive substance is located in the cylinder between end plugs and the piston passes through one of the end plugs there being shaft seal means carried by the end plug and sealing around the piston passing through it, the piston having its inboard end immersed in the thermally expansive substance.

  • Patent number: 4140017
Abstract: A temperature responsive device, for example for controlling a ventilator or a valve, is provided which comprises a cylinder containing a substance which expands on being heated, thermal expansion of the substance causing expulsion of a piston rod from the cylinder. The device is characterized in that the piston rod constitutes a primary piston which passes through a central bore of a secondary piston which is movable axially in the bore of the cylinder, and in that there is provided threaded onto one end of the cylinder and surrounding the piston rod a sleeve which serves to limit movement of the secondary piston in one direction, with rotation of the sleeve relative to the cylinder being used to adjust the effective volume of the cylinder.
