Abstract: A process for the preparation or organosilanes of the formula I by reacting a (haloorganyl)alkoxysilane of the formula II with a sulphurization reagent selected from the group consisting or alkali metal hydrogen sulphide, alkali metal sulphide Me2S, alkali metal polysulphide Me2Sg and any desired combinations thereof, and optionally additionally with sulphur and/or with H2S, in an alcohol, the Me2S or Me2Sg containing more than 10% by weight of water and the alkali metal hydrogen sulphide containing more than 3% by weight of water.

Abstract: Water-based organopolysiloxane-containing compositions which are essentially free from organic solvents, have a flashpoint above 80.degree. C., and essentially liberate no alcohols by hydrolysis on dilution with water are obtainable by mixing water-soluble aminoalkylalkoxysilanes with alkyltrialkoxysilanes and/or dialkyldialkoxysilanes and/or mixtures of alkyltrialkoxysilanes and dialkyldialkoxysilanes which are not water-soluble, adding water to the mixture, adjusting the pH of the reaction mixture to a value of between 1 and 8 and removing any alcohol already present and/or formed during the reaction. Such compositions are especially useful for hydrophobicizing the surface of building materials such as brick, concrete, lime sand brick, and mortar.

Abstract: Alkylhydrogenchlorosilanes of formula I:R.sub.x HSiCl.sub.y (I)wherein R are identical or different alkyl radicals, x is 1 or 2 and y is 1 or 2 and the sum of x and y is equal to 3, are prepared by comproportionating alkylchlorosilanes of formula II:R.sub.a SiCl.sub.n (II)wherein R denotes identical or different alkyl radicals, a is 1 or 2 and n is 2 or 3 and the sum of a and n is equal to 4 with hydrogenchlorosilanes of formula III:R.sub.b H.sub.c SiCl.sub.4-b-c (III)wherein R denotes identical or different alkyl radicals, b is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and c is 1, 2, 3 or 4 and the sum of b and c is equal to or smaller than 4, in the presence of a catalyst saturated with a hydrogen halide.

Abstract: 3-Acryloyloxypropylalkoxysilanes of formula I:CH.sub.2 .dbd.C(R)C(O)O(CH.sub.2).sub.3 Si(R.sup.1).sub.a (OR.sup.2).sub.3-a (I)are prepared by reacting a hydridosilane of formula II:HSi(R.sup.1).sub.a (OR.sup.2).sub.3-a (II)with an allyl ester of formula III:CH.sub.2 .dbd.C(R)C(O)OCH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH.sub.2 (III),where R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl groups or phenyl groups, and a is 0, 1 or 2, in the presence of a platinum catalyst.

Abstract: The invention relates to water-based organopolysiloxane containing compositions which are essentially free from organic solvents, have a flash point above 70.degree. C. and essentially liberate no alcohols by hydrolysis on dilution with water. The organopolysiloxane-containing compositions according to the invention are obtainable by mixing M mol of water-insoluble organotrialkoxysilanes with Q mol of water-soluble aminoalkylalkoxysilanes in a molar ratio of 0<M/Q.ltoreq.2, adding water to the mixture, adjusting the pH of the reaction mixture to a value of between 1 and 8 and removing alcohol already present and/or formed during the reaction. The process for the preparation of the organopolysiloxane-containing compositions according to the invention and their use are also disclosed.

Abstract: Acyloxysilanes and carboxylic acid chlorides can be prepared simultaneously and continuously from organochlorosilanes and monocarboxylic acid anhydrides. Catalytically active amounts of organic bases soluble in the reaction mixture, their salts or organic acid amides are employed here.

Abstract: Discoloration of vinylacetoxysilanes is prevented by adding thereto 25 to 500 ppm, based on the amount of vinylacetoxysilane, of 3,5-di-tert.-butylpyrocatechol, 2,6-di-tert.-butyl-4-methylphenol, 2-mercaptobenzimidazole or a mixture thereof.
