  • Patent number: 10170913
Abstract: A static synchronous compensator device connected between a source and a load of a three-phase power system, comprising: a main feedback line configured to provide a main feedback signal from lines between the source and the load; a mixer configured to mix the main feedback signal with a balance function to generate a balanced signal; a signal controller configured to convert the balanced signal to a controlled signal; a gain circuit configured to multiply the controlled signal by ?1 and to perform proportional gain and integral gain (P & I) processing on the controlled signal to generate an intermediate correction signal; and a pulse width modulator configured to apply a pulse width modulation pattern to modulate the voltage source inverter to generate an AC waveform that is applied to the lines between the source and the load.

  • Publication number: 20120226187
Abstract: A vestibular implant comprising a stimulation unit to generate electric stimuli and deliver to electrode arrays is disclosed. The stimulation unit generates electric stimuli in response to a user input or continuously generates electrical stimuli. The electrode arrays comprise electrodes and are adapted for placement within a semicircular canal of an ear. The electric stimuli is delivered from the stimulation unit to the electrode so that the electrodes apply electric stimuli. A predetermined electric stimulus is applied to restore spontaneous vestibular activity during a Meniere's attack. A continuous, unmodulated electric stimulus is applied to suppress the symptoms of unilateral loss of vestibular function. Additionally, the electrodes record electrically evoked compound action potentials (eCAP). An appropriate location for the placement of the electrode array is determined based on the recorded eCAP.

  • Patent number: 5071435
Abstract: A bone prosthesis (10) which is hydraulically operated is disclosed. It comprises a cylinder (12), which is closed at one end, and piston (28), which slides inside the cylinder (12). The relative locations of the cylinder (12) and piston (28) are controlled by a liquid (26) filled bladder (24) which is located inside the cylinder (12). Liquid (26) is introduced into the bladder (24) via a valve (22) which fits through the side wall (21) of the cylinder (12). The valve (22) is constructed so that liquid (26) can be introduced to or removed from the bladder (24). One end of the prosthesis (10) is shaped to mate with the remaining segment of bone. The other end of the prosthesis (10) is shaped to replace the other end of the surgically removed bone segment. In addition, the internal surface (18) of the cylinder (12) and the external surface (30) of the piston (28) are grooved or keyed so as to prevent rotation of the piston (28) inside the cylinder (12).
