  • Patent number: 5126696
Abstract: A W-band waveguide variable controlled oscillator incorporating a capacitively coupled Gunn diode and varactor diode arranged in such a manner that adverse environmental conditions do not deleteriously effect the stability of the output of the oscillator. The Gunn diode is electrically connected to a waveguide chamber within the oscillator and includes a resonator electrically connected to its end cap. The resonator is electrically connected to a DC bias source by means of a DC bias filter and a wire inductor. Opposite and above the Gunn diode is a varactor assembly including a varactor diode, which is also electrically connected to a DC bias source through a DC bias filter. A variable coupling spacer within the varactor assembly adjusts the distance between the varactor diode and the Gunn diode such that the capacitive coupling between the two can be adjusted. In addition, an adjustable back-short is incorporated within the waveguide channel to adjust the power output of the oscillator.

  • Patent number: 4641369
Abstract: A radio-frequency mixer and a local oscillator integrated into a single housing, and including a Gunn-type oscillator coupled to the mixer by a section of microstrip transmission line and a section of suspended stripline. A broadside coupler in the suspended stripline provides dc and intermediate-frequency isolation for the mixer, and a block of dielectric material on the microstrip provides improved temperature compensation for the diode oscillator. The entire compact assembly has good conversion loss performance over a relatively wide frequency band, and is relatively insensitive to temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 4237432
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave filter device having an input transducer and an output transducer, in which triple transit effects are minimized by the addition of a second output transducer spaced from the input transducer, preferably by a distance three times the spacing between the normal input and output transducers, to duplicate the triple transit path length. A triple transit signal is thereby simulated at the second output transducer, is adjusted in amplitude and phase, and is applied to a summing circuit in which the simulated triple transit signal is subtracted from a signal derived from the original output transducer, to effectively cancel the triple transit component.
