The telecommunication interface may be configured to place the caller on hold and to send a message to a portable notifier carried by the specific user in response to a selection of the user by the caller. The portable notifier vibrates or visually cues the user of an incoming telephone call or message. The portable notifier may display answering options for the specific user.
