Patent number: 7357009Abstract: A quarter turn slide lock assembly having a base, a cover, a slider, a rotator, springs and washers. The base includes a channel for the slider to move between extended and retracted positions. The slider includes internal and exterior cam follower surfaces. The rotator has a hex head for 90° rotation by a special tool and a cam arm for engaging the internal cam follower surface of the slider. The external cam follower surface is biased by an abutting surface on an object to be locked and the springs bias the slider in an opposite direction to an interference fit with the object. The base includes a smooth, slanted outer surface to avoid snags and the washers reinforce the slide lock so that rivets used to attach the slide lock to an object to be locked are strongly secured. The cover snap fits to the base for a simple and reliable slide lock assembly.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2003Date of Patent: April 15, 2008Assignee: Emerson Network Power, Energy Systems, North America, Inc.Inventors: Jerome A. Maloney, Albert McGovern

Publication number: 20060289539Abstract: An improved outdoor telecommunication pedestal having a dome and a two part base. The base includes inner and outer horizontal and vertical ribs to greatly enhance in-ground stability. The dome also includes vertical ribs to engage slots in the base to give good security. Security is further enhanced by a spring loaded lock mechanism that requires only a quarter turn to unlock. A cam follower wall is provided on a slider of the lock to allow a snap attachment of the dome and the base once full engagement is reached.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2006Publication date: December 28, 2006Inventors: Jerome Maloney, Albert McGovern

Patent number: 6814631Abstract: An electrical terminal and a system of the terminal and a housing is disclosed as an example of the present invention. The electrical terminal and the housing have a number of advantages including being sufficiently stiff to prevent arcing and physical damage to the electrical terminal upon being exposed to surge current/voltage. The terminal includes a contact with a base portion from which two spaced apart arms extend outwardly. First portions of the arms are generally parallel to one another. Second portions of the arms converge toward each other and then flare outwardly along third portions of the arms. At the junction of the second and third portions, there is a contact region formed to receive the lead of a surge protection device. The terminal is enclosed in an opening in the electrically insulative housing, the opening being bordered by walls closely adjacent to the first portions of the arms. The spacing of the walls from the arms is about 0.001 inches on each side of the terminal.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Marconi Intellectual Property (Ringfence) Inc.Inventors: Thomas Baum, Albert McGovern, Daniel Hoeft, Jane Lee

Patent number: 6556411Abstract: A surge protection cartridge is disclosed which is compact, allows for surge protection devices to be inserted and removed by hand, is rugged, is easy to use and is economical. The cartridge includes a plastic housing, a series of tip and ring terminals mounted to the housing, a ground bar mounted within the housing, a guide strip frictionally mounted to the housing, two attachment clips and a cover. The guide strip is partitioned and includes surge protection device pads with three holes and funnel-like bordering surfaces around each hole to facilitate installation of the devices. The side walls of the housing are shortened to allow hand installation and removal of devices and the cover is used to protect the devices and maintain their connection even when the cartridge is roughly handled. The attachment clips connect to the housing, to a standard telecommunication frame and to a modular terminal block assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2002Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Marconi Communications, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Hoeft, Dominic Morrone, Albert McGovern, Thomas Baum

Patent number: 6501015Abstract: A vented non-metallic cap for equipment pedestals having high heat generating components is disclosed. The cap is constructed of a plastic base and a plastic top cover with a stainless steel insect screen between these elements. The base includes a central opening to allow the interior of a covered pedestal to vent heated air generated by newer equipment, and yet the appearance of the vented cap is similar to existing metal pedestal top covers, but has far superior thermal performance.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2001Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Assignee: Marconi Communications, Inc.Inventors: Jerome A. Maloney, Bisher J. Rayyahin, Albert McGovern
