  • Patent number: 5621935
Abstract: An innerspring construction comprises a first elongate string of pocketed coil springs with each coil having a longitudinal axis lying in a first plane and a first elongate tube of fabric having first transverse seams spaced along the length of the tube to define individual coil spring pockets. The tube is alternately bent proximate the first seams such that every other first seam lies on the same side of the first plane. A second elongate string of pocketed coils in which each coil has a longitudinal axis lying in a second plane has a second elongate tube of fabric with second transverse seams spaced along the length of the tube to define individual coil pockets. The second elongate string is attached to the first elongate string by bonds formed between circumferentially abutting surfaces on the coil pockets of the first and second tubes of fabric. The resulting construction provides for reduced tendency for leaning coils and permits greater innerspring firmness for a given coil wire diameter.

  • Patent number: 4803742
Abstract: A convertible bed assembly is provided which is movable between a seating position and a bed position. The assembly includes foot, intermediate and head support sections, the latter being fixedly mounted to a frame assembly. The three sections are arranged in telescoping relation such that all may fit within the frame assembly. The foot and intermediate sections are both pivotably mounted with respect to the frame assembly. An inclined or curved rear wall is provided to urge a mattress supported by the sections downwardly as it is moved in the direction of the head support section. As the mattress moves in this direction, it is folded into a seating position including a seat portion and a back portion.

  • Patent number: 4490090
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for transferring a wood frame or the like from a first surface to a second surface. The apparatus includes a pivotably mounted frame assembly having a pair of projecting transfer arms. The transfer arms are provided with a clamping mechanism for clamping the wood frame therebetween at the first surface. It is transferred to the second surface by rotating the frame assembly about its pivot axis and then releasing the clamping mechanism when the frame is at or just above the second surface. The clamping mechanism includes at least one structure which is pivotably mounted to the end of one of the transfer arms and movable in the direction of the other of the two arms.

  • Patent number: 4406391
Abstract: A system is provided for handling a strip of pocketed coil springs in an organized manner. An accumulator bin receives the strip from a conveyor assembly which oscillates about a pivot axis to feed the strip evenly across the width of the bin. The bin is designed to urge the first manufactured portions of the strip to the front portion thereof where it may be removed by a second conveyor assembly. Photosensitive devices may be provided to control the feeding of the strip to the bin and its removal therefrom.
