  • Patent number: 4453376
Abstract: An agricultural machine for the tedding or conditioning of fodder comprises a pair of drums (1,2) rotatable about shafts (12,13) which are slightly inclined in the forwards direction of travel (A) of the machine. The drums (1,2) are interconnected by a chassis (3) which is connected to a coupling member (4) by a connecting beam (5). The coupling member (4) has attachment points (6,7,8) for coupling the machine to a tractor. Each drum (1,2) carries at its lower portion a flexible, deformable skirt (17,18) for grasping and transporting the fodder. The skirts are associated with tedding or conditioning means which may comprise ribs (20) on the upper surfaces of the skirts (17,18) or other means (not shown).

  • Patent number: 4397135
Abstract: A haymaking machine for the windrowing, tedding or turning of crops, includes at least one drum rotatable about an upright axis, a flexible and deformable skirt arranged to follow the contour of the ground, and connected near the bottom of the drum for sweeping up the crop to carry it on its upper surface, and a plurality of outwardly extending arms secured to the exterior of the drum above the skirt to aid in displacing the crop.

  • Patent number: 4367622
Abstract: An arrangement for gathering and lifting forage lying on the ground includes at least a carrier mounted on a support for rotation about an upright axis, a skirt mounted on the lower portion of the carrier, a receiving device, and a guiding arrangement extending between the skirts and reaching under the same and the receiving device. The forage lifted by the skirts may be transferred to the guiding arrangement by a roller which is situated at least partially underneath the skirt upstream of the leading end of the guiding arrangement. The guiding arrangement may include a guiding plate, a conveyor belt, or an elevator arrangement including a plurality of rakes. When two carriers with skirts mounted thereon are being used, the trajectories of the skirts slightly overlap one another, the skirt or skirts being flexible and having peripheral projections which reach between one another.

  • Patent number: 4346549
Abstract: An agricultural machine for tedding and windrowing fodder crops comprises a pair of drums (1,2) rotatable about shafts (12,13) and interconnectd by a chassis (3) which is connected to a coupling member (4) by a connecting beam (5). The coupling member (4) has attachment points (6,7,8) for coupling the machine to a tractor. Each drum carries at its lower portion a flexible, deformable skirt (17,18) for grasping and transporting the fodder. Means (19) are associated with each skirt (17,18) for carrying out tedding or windrowing. The means (19) may comprise drive means (20) which are movable into a first position for tedding and into a second position for windrowing. The drive means are pivotally mounted on the walls of the drums (1,2) and movement of the drive means between their two positions is achieved by means of a screw (35). Other means are disclosed in the specification for achieving tedding and windrowing.

  • Patent number: 4309863
Abstract: A harvesting machine includes at least one drum rotatable about an upright axis and open at the bottom, an effective skirt secured to a lower part of the drum, including a first skirt substantially in the shape of a hollow truncated cone, and a second skirt secured to the first skirt and extending therebelow, so that only the second skirt makes operative contact with the ground, at least near the front of the harvesting machine as defined by the forward direction of its movement.

  • Patent number: 4299077
Abstract: A mower comprises cutter blades mounted by bolts in bushes on cutter discs surmounted by hollow elements secured on respective shafts. Accommodated within or partially within the hollow elements are drive means including hydraulic motors, drive shafts, bevel gear wheels and a toothed wheel meshing with a toothed wheel. A splined shaft extends through the toothed wheels to synchronize the rotations of the cutter discs. A casing encloses the shaft and is provided with renewable sole pieces which slide on the ground.

  • Patent number: 4281506
Abstract: A convertible forage-handling machine which is capable of operating in tedding or windrowing position includes a plurality of bipartite arms mounted on a carrier of a raking wheel for rotation therewith. The two parts of each of the arms are always maintained in the same common plane regardless of the mode in which the machine operates, and are in permanent contact with one another via a motion-transmitting arrangement consisting of cooperating male and female connecting elements. One of the parts is swivelled by the cooperation of a cam follower rigid therewith with a stationary cam track, and the other part, which carries a plurality of forage-engaging tools at its free end, is caused by the motion-transmitting arrangement to share in the swivelling motion only when the machine operates in the windrowing position.
