  • Patent number: 6717416
Abstract: A two-wire sensor (S) is connected to a pole via a first connection line (V1) in which a voltage longitudinal controller (SR) and a current-limiting resistor (R1) are positioned, and via a second connection line (V2) to which the other pole of a power supply source is connected. The output of the voltage longitudinal controller (SR) is connected to the second connection line (V2) via a first limiting diode (D1) and a second limiting diode (D2) which preferably is installed opposite the first connected diode. The joint node of the two limiting diodes (D1, D2) is connected to the control input of the voltage longitudinal controller (SR).

  • Patent number: 4934310
Abstract: Coating apparatus is provided for use in coating a sheet of goods which is carried on a counter-roller. The coating apparatus includes a coating zone which is formed along the sheet to be coated. At least one deflector is provided in the coating zone for deflecting the return flow of coating material deflected at the coating blade to a divergence angle of less than 90 degrees relative to the emerging flow of fresh coating material from the outlet port of the chamber containing the coating material. In general, angle of divergence between the two opposing flows of coating material is less than 60 degrees. In this manner, the amount of agitation and turbulence in the flow of material is minimized.

  • Patent number: 4852514
Abstract: A coating deckle of a coating device including a holder for a soft rubber sealing element wherein the holder includes a sealing tongue aligned parallel to the restrictor plate which extends parallel to the opposite roll supporting the web in the area of the coating device. The sealing tongue bears flat on the restrictor plate and seals in the area of the restrictor plate and the application space which is formed between the restrictor plate of the web or opposite roll and the blade element. The restrictor plate includes a groove in which the sealing tongue is movably held.

  • Patent number: 4700658
Abstract: A device for coating traveling material webs wherein the coater features two opposite press rolls capable of forming therebetween a coating mixture sump. Each press roll features at its side opposite from the other press roll a coater provided with a doctor blade. In the application of sizing to the web, the last reversing roll in the direction of web travel is arranged above the press rolls. In the application of coating, to the web, the last reversing roll located in the direction of web travel before the first coater is arranged below the two press rolls.

  • Patent number: 4637338
Abstract: An apparatus for scraping off excess coating composition from a traveling web of paper has a doctor, in the form of a flexible blade used as is or with a metering rod thereon. The doctor is fastened to a doctor supporting beam and can be pressed against the web of a paper by means of a supporting ledge which is fastened to the doctor supporting beam. The doctor supporting beam is swingably mounted at each of its two ends in a respective intermediate pivoting lever. Each intermediate lever is, in turn, pivotably mounted to a supporting bar. The pivoting axis of the intermediate levers lies as close as possible to the line of attack of the doctor on the web of paper. However, the pivoting axis of the doctor supporting beam is displaced from the pivoting axis of the intermediate levers. The end of the intermediate lever remote from its pivoting axis is connected by a pair of lift mechanisms to the doctor supporting beam.

  • Patent number: 4534309
Abstract: An improved paper coating applicator has a body portion defined by forward and rearward relatively movable walls defining a chamber therebetween with an elongate opening thereto positionable generally below, adjacent to and transversely of a paper web, the chamber receiving coating liquid and directing the same generally upwardly through the opening and onto the web. According to one aspect of the improvement, the chamber and a distribution header for introducing coating material therein are of a design enhancing a very uniform application of coating material onto the web. In another aspect, a unique seal structure provides a secure, fluid tight connection between the front and rear walls.

  • Patent number: 4495888
Abstract: A coating mechanism for coating continuous webs of product, especially paper products, comprising a support member having a coating blade supported thereon by a clamping device, the coating blade having a coating surface and a coating edge. The coating blade and the web of product form therebetween an application slot, and the clamping device includes an expansible pressure member adapted to contain a pressure medium. A pressure chamber is installed on the support member and is tiltable about an axis disposed between the pressure member and the coating blade so as to transfer the expansion force of the pressure member to the coating blade. The pressure chamber has an opening therein and is adapted to supply a coating composition through the opening to the application slot for application by the coating blade onto the web of product.

  • Patent number: 4413586
Abstract: A size press having a plurality of rollers for the deposition of a size bath on both sides of a running paper web. The running paper web cooperates with a first roller to pick up size from a trough disposed below the first roller. Downstream of the first roller are second, third and fourth rollers, which are so disposed relative one to the other that the second and third rollers form a pressure gap therebetween and the third and fourth rollers form a second pressure gap therebetween. The size deposited on the running paper web from the trough is uniformly and efficiently metered thereon, and sufficient time is provided for a uniform penetration of the size into the running paper web, thereby resulting in a homogeneously sized web.

  • Patent number: 4169425
Abstract: Apparatus for removing the surplus of coating composition at the exposed side of a running paper web has a stationary support for a deformable doctor blade the edge portion or one side of which extends transversely of the path for and contacts the exposed side of the running web, a pivotable or reciprocable rigid beam which is mounted on the support and is urged toward the blade by one or more inflated flexible hoses, and a profile adjusting unit which is mounted on the beam and can be adjusted to deform selected portions of the blade in dependency on the desired profile of the exposed side of the web. The beam compensates for eventual variations of the bias of the hose, as considered transversely of the path. The pressure of fluid which is confined in the hose can be regulated in dependency on deviations of measured weight of coating composition from a desired weight.
