  • Patent number: 8312685
Abstract: A roof mounting system includes rows of overlapping panels wherein a spacer is provided between the overlapping panels to cause a separation of the outer surface of one panel and the lower surface of the other panel. The spacer is in a wire/band form structure wherein the spacer is bent or bendable to include both horizontal and vertical portions. Other practices are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 30, 2009
Date of Patent: November 20, 2012
    Inventor: Alden T. Gibbs
  • Patent number: 8127513
Abstract: A mounting system for mounting a plurality of panels to a roof structure includes a plurality of rows of panels wherein at least some of the rows are arranged in overlapping fashion. Spacer structure is provided between the rows of panels to maintain vertically adjacent panels out of contact with each other to create an open area for an air layer between the vertically adjacent panels.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 11, 2008
Date of Patent: March 6, 2012

  • Patent number: 6052961
Abstract: A roof mounting assembly includes rows of pans mounted to the understructure of a roof by hooking the pans around support tracks. Rows of roofing panels are mounted over the respective rows of pans with adjacent roofing panels generally abutting each other to create a joint located above the central area of an underlying pan so that the pan acts as a barrier to prevent rain water and the like from flowing through the joint and directly to the understructure. By using underlying pans to prevent leakage, it is possible to minimize the amount of panel overlapping. The panels are preferably mounted to the tracks by separate hook members. The upper end of each panel is between and against an overlying panel and an underlying track.

  • Patent number: 5713158
Abstract: A roofing ridge (or hip) installation includes a roof understructure having a pair of outwardly sloping walls which form an inverted V-shaped ridge. A support panel is mounted on each of the walls with the lower end of each support panel optionally terminating in an upwardly facing channel. Tiles such as slates are mounted in each channel. A pressure applying assembly forces the base end of the panels inwardly. A cap spans across and covers the upper ends of the panels and assembly.

  • Patent number: 5617690
Abstract: The invention is a mounting assembly for attaching panels to a support surface. It includes various designs of spaced elongated mounting tracks secured to the support surface (usually a deck or wall), and panels provided with mounting devices, such as clips, detachably secured at opposite edges of each panel. These devices serve as the intermediary in attaching the panel to the mounting track, which, in turn, is fastened to the support deck or to an other appropriate surface. Each panel is attached to a mounting track in a way that permits arrangement in courses, with the panels side by side, and when appropriate, in overlapping courses.

  • Patent number: 5577360
Abstract: A slate mounting system includes a plurality of spaced parallel mounting tracks for being secured to the framework of a structure. A plurality of rows of slate mounting panels is provided with each row of slate panels associated with a respective track. A slot is formed in each side edge of the slate panel. A spring fastener is mounted in the slot and secured to a track to mount the panel in place. Where the panels are overlapped, the head of an underlying panel is also sandwiched between the outer panel and the track and held in position by the same fastener.
