  • Patent number: 4887862
Abstract: An automotive bodywork constructed as a floor pan formed by a platform frame. The platform frame has a structure of the "sandwich" type. It is constructed by overlapping three sheet metal sheets. The intermediate sheet of these three metal sheets is undulated and secured to the other two sheets of metal. Each of the other two sheets of metal are integrally secured to the undulated intermediate sheet where the crests of the undulations contact each other sheet.

  • Patent number: 4581703
Abstract: The invention relates to an injection control device for an internal combustion engine, in which a programmed microprocessor calculates the open time of a plurality of electrically operated injectors as a function of prechosen engine parameters, and determines the activation of said injectors into their open state and their deactivation into their closed state with the aid of a single timer, which counts-out the calculated open time. If a second injector is opened while a first injector is still delivering the fuel, the microprocessor calculates the difference between the open time of the second injector and the remaining open time of the first injector, so as to be able to count-out the open time of the two injectors on the single timer.

  • Patent number: 4455984
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-cylinder Otto cycle internal combustion engine for motor vehicles, arranged to operate with a number of working cylinders which varies with the power delivered by the engine. The working cylinders which deliver the complementary portion of the maximum power have a compression ratio which is less than that of the remaining group of cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4393836
Abstract: This invention relates to a system for the regulation and control of the angle of advance in the ignition unit of an internal combustion engine, which is based on the use of a properly programmed microprocessor unit which receives the input data from a set of detectors of engine parameters, processes them and finally delivers output data representative of the regulated magnitude, that is, of the angle of advance.

  • Patent number: 4346443
Abstract: This invention relates to a regulation and control system for the fuel feeding unit of an internal combustion engine, said system being based on the use of a microprocessing unit which has properly been programmed. A set of detectors of engine parameters supplies the microprocessing unit with a set of input data which are processed in the processing unit and converted into a set of output data which are representative of the regulated magnitudes, more exactly of the duration and phase setting of the fuel feed.

  • Patent number: 4280460
Abstract: For the automatic adjustment of the number of revolutions per minute of an internal combustion engine in idling conditions when the accelerator pedal is released, a device is disclosed with which the instantaneous rpm is sensed and compared with reference values of the number of revolutions, called N.sub.1, N.sub.2 and N.sub.3, wherein N.sub.2 is smaller than N.sub.3 but equal to, or greater than, N.sub.1. These reference values can be used to preset an electronic comparison circuit, or the comparison can be effected by exploiting a mechanism comprising a metering pump, the result being always that when the rpm of the engine is below the preselected minimum, the feed of fuel to the engine is supplemented, whereas it is reduced or cut off if the situation is the contrary, that is when the engine tends to overtake the normal idling rpm.

  • Patent number: 4229695
Abstract: A digital transducer for rotary shaft speed has a resolution which varies automatically with shaft speed. A wheel, keyed to the shaft, is partitioned into plural sectors by angularly spaced notches, the angular spacing between successive notches increasing in a fixed ratio to define respective preselected speed zone within a range of such zones. A first counter is arranged to count fixed frequency clock pulses and to be reset after each shaft revolution. A variable frequency pulse train is generated by a sensor arranged to sense the passage of each notch. Upon receipt of each pulse in the variable frequency pulse train, a comparator compares the count in the first counter with stored reference numbers which are related to the clock pulse frequency and to the ratio of successive angles between the notches. A second counter, also reset once during each shaft revolution, counts pulses in the variable frequency pulse train.

  • Patent number: 4176627
Abstract: An electronic control circuit for the fuel injectors of an internal combustion engine is disclosed, which comprises a circuitry for detecting certain indicative parameters of the engine working conditions and of the power requirements requested by the engine operator, electronic circuitry means being provided for generating pulse train signals to be compared with the signals corresponding to the detected parameters and circuitry means for effecting a comparison with one of a series of preselected patterns of injector feed (intermittency of feed and duration of each feeding burst) thus enabling a control circuit to enter action so as to adapt the operation of the injectors to the preselected pattern. The operator has thus a comparatively wide choice among a number of typical engine operative situations. Consistent fuel savings can thus be obtained along with a more regular engine run.
