  • Patent number: 10440461
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for an earpiece that includes an audio subsystem and a longitudinal housing that is bendable between a substantially straight shape and a substantially curved shape. The longitudinal housing may contain the audio subsystem and include a flexible material. Additionally, a speaker may be coupled to the audio subsystem and positioned at an end of the longitudinal housing. In one example, the earpiece also includes a controller coupled to the flexible material, wherein the controller generates one or more control signals that cause the flexible material to automatically complete a bend of the longitudinal housing to the substantially curved shape.

  • Publication number: 20190278339
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to operate closed-lid portable computers are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a camera input analyzer to analyze image data captured by a world facing camera on a portable computer when a lid of the portable computer is in a closed position. The world facing camera is on a first side of the lid. The portable computer includes a primary display on a second side of the lid opposite the first side. The example apparatus further includes a secondary display controller to render content via a secondary display of the portable computer in response to the analysis of the image data. The secondary display controller is to render the content on the secondary display while the lid of the portable computer is in the closed position and the primary display is turned off.

  • Publication number: 20190121595
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for managing display content across overlapping devices are disclosed. A display connected to or part of a first device may be at least partially occluded by a second device. In the disclosed embodiments, the first device detects the position and orientation of the second device relative to the display, determines a portion of the display that is occluded by the second device, and manages the content of the display and/or a display connected to the second device to accommodate the occluded portion. In some embodiments, the content is managed with respect to the context of the content displayed on the displays connected to the first and second devices.

  • Publication number: 20190103075
Abstract: The presently disclosed display device includes one or more user detection sensors that determine a user location in respond to the display device. The display device then reformats image data based on the determined user location, such as by transitioning the image data from one mode to another and/or angling the image data toward the determined user location. When sharing the image data with another display device, the display devices may reformat the image data based on user location without a user manually entering a desired format or orientation. In addition, the display devices may determine whether they are touching or almost touching and, in response, split, reformat, or re-orient the image data to combine to form a single, larger display. By reformatting or orienting image data toward users using device sensors, instead of relying on user customization, the presently disclosed techniques provide more efficient and intuitive user experiences.

  • Patent number: 10222828
Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for a wearable electronic device, such as a bracelet, watch, wristband or armband that includes a circuit board coupled to a plurality of electronic components (which may include any type of components, elements, circuitry, etc.). One particular example implementation of a wearable electronic device may include a strap portion and a first display portion included in the strap portion. The first display portion can include a main display and a first fingerprint sensor configured to capture one or more fingerprints placed on the main display at one or more capture locations. The captured fingerprints can be used to identify a user and log-in the user to the device if the user is authorized to log-in to the device. A fingerprint can also be captured for a finger placed on a secondary display that may be contained in a latch portion of the device.

  • Publication number: 20180324356
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to extended visual capture in a reconfigurable device. In general, at least a display portion of a device may have a deformable shape configuration in that its shape is changeable by a user. The device may also comprise at least sensor circuitry including a plurality of sensors. The shape configuration may position the plurality of sensors at different positions to enable extended visual capture of a 180 to 360 degree viewing range surrounding the device in a single image or video. Control circuitry in the device may determine when shape reconfiguration of at least the display has occurred, determine whether the new shape configuration involves visual capture, and if the new shape configuration is determined to involve visual capture, determine an operational mode for the at least the sensor circuitry and cause the sensor circuitry to capture visual data based at least on the operational mode.
