Abstract: Techniques for controlling Multi-USIM behaviour of user equipment, UE, are provided. For example, a method (400) to be performed by an UE is provided. The method comprises: sending (410), to a network, an indication that the UE supports a multi universal subscriber identity module, USIM, mode; receiving (420), from the network, and indication that the network supports both paging filtering based on paging filtering information from the UE and providing a paging cause code in a paging message to the UE; and in response to receiving the indication from the network, deciding (430) whether to provide the paging filtering information to the network to command the network to apply the paging filtering, or to apply paging response behaviour based on a paging cause code in a paging message received from the network.

Abstract: A method comprises receiving network slice information from a core network entity, the network slice information related to a network slice which is not supported in one or more cells of a first tracking area, but which is supported in one or more cells of a second tracking area. The method further comprises triggering a procedure at a user equipment to access said network slice based on said network slice information when said user equipment is in one or more cells of the first tracking area.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for determining random access channel (RACH) resources or parameters based on network slice-based resource allocation classes (RACs) may be provided. A mapping between network slices and a set of RACs may be determined by a core network (CN). The CN may send this mapping to the UE. The UE may select RACH resources or parameters for a network slice. The radio access network (RAN) may determine a mapping between the RACs and the RACH resources or parameters. The UE may determine the corresponding RACH resources or parameters to be used for a RAC.

Abstract: Techniques for determining a registration area are provided. A network entity may receive one or more indications of topology information from one or more radio access network nodes. Each indication of topology information is related to one or more tracking areas and each tracking area is associated with one or more cells in a radio access network served by each of the one or more radio access network nodes. The network entity may determine a registration area based at least in part on the received one or more indications of topology information related to the one or more tracking areas.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to provide a network controlled radio resource control (RRC) connection establishment mechanism. The method, apparatus and computer program product receive a registration request originating with user equipment in a communication network. The method, apparatus and computer program product then construct a registration accept message. The registration accept message includes an Access Stratum Connection Establishment NSSAI (Network Slice Selection assistance information) Inclusion Mode parameter. The method, apparatus and computer program product then transmit the registration accept message to the user equipment.

For example, network functions in a communication system with a shared data layer may be used to manage requests from the user equipment. A method may include transmitting a request from a user equipment to a network function. The method may also include receiving at the user equipment a temporary identification from the network function The temporary identification comprises an identifier that helps locate a shared data layer function that stores context information for the user equipment.
