  • Publication number: 20090226899
Abstract: A method is disclosed wherein an antigenic B-cell epitope is discovered by in vitro transcription and translation of pre-determined sequence on thermostable protein scaffolds detected by antibodies to a native protein. Immune reactivities of IgE B-cell epitopes from pre-determined IgE sequences from the constant region, engaged in binding to high affinity IgE Fc receptors, placed in a loop of green fluorescent protein (GFP) were shown immuno-reactive with anti-IgE. Moreover, the antigenic B-cell epitope can be further optimized by molecular evolution, selected by conformer antibody and receptor on solid phase via ribosome display. Alternatively, a random aptameric antigenic sequence inserted into a loop of the protein scaffold, mimicking a pre-determined sequence of a native protein, can be selected by solid phase conformer antibody and receptor via ribosome display.

  • Patent number: 7287180
Abstract: A video distribution system is implemented on a hierarchical parallel processing system that has clusters that are automatically formed from nodes of computer processing systems. Each cluster has a cluster supervising processor or group leader system that controls cluster configuration, fault detection and isolation, and data distribution. The group leader is determined according to a priority determined during the configuring of the hierarchical parallel processing system. The clusters are able to be reconfigured to allow removal and addition of nodes without impact on operation of the parallel processor system. The cluster provide a node status or heartbeat message that which provides detection and isolation of failure of nodes and disk storage devices within a cluster. The nodes within the cluster are able to join or leave a cluster and not affect performance.

  • Patent number: 7249205
Abstract: A method to provide information from a first information storage and retrieval system to a second information storage and retrieval system. Applicants' method provides a first information storage and retrieval system, where that first information storage and retrieval system comprises (N) PPRC adapters and information, and provides a second information storage and retrieval system. The method generates and saves an Established Path Bitmap which recites each of the (N) PPRC adapters, and generates an Available Path Bitmap. If a PPRC adapter is in communication with the secondary information storage and retrieval system, then the method adds that adapter to the Available Path Bitmap. The Established Path Bitmap and the Available Path Bitmap are used for subsequent PPRC operations.

  • Patent number: 7240135
Abstract: A processor is used to evaluate information regarding the number, size, and priority level of data transfer requests sent to a plurality of communication ports. Additional information regarding the number, size, and priority level of data requests received by the communication ports from this and other processors is evaluated as well. This information is applied to a control algorithm that, in turn, determines which of the communication ports will receive subsequent data transfer requests. The behavior of the control algorithm varies based on the current utilization rate of communication port bandwidths, the size of data transfer requests, and the priority level of the these transfer requests.

  • Publication number: 20070136787
Abstract: A method and system are provided for authorizing access to software printing resources stored within a memory of a network printing system. The method and system receive user identification information and a request for access to at least one software printing resource of the software printing resources. A determination is then made whether the user identification information corresponds to an authorized user. If the user identification information corresponds to an authorized user, access is given to the at least one software printing resource stored within the memory, thereby enabling the performance of a print job using the at least one software printing resource.

  • Publication number: 20050198638
Abstract: Tracks of data or other data units are copied from a primary storage system to a secondary storage system. For multiple-track or multiple-data unit transfers, a group of tracks or data units which are sequentially related are transferred. A respective task is defined at the primary storage system for monitoring a progress of the transfer of each of the respective data units in a group. A state is maintained for monitoring a progress of the transfer of the group responsive to the progress of each of the tasks. A normal state is selected when there are no failed tasks. A recovery state is selected when there is a failure, and the status of the remaining tasks is being ascertained. A retry state is selected following the recovery state to retry the failed tasks. A failed state indicates an unrecoverable failure.
