Abstract: Apparatus and method for producing contact, contactless and dual-interface metal transaction cards that provides enhanced durability and aesthetics, with increased production efficiency. The cards may include (i) a metal core subassembly comprising a metal layer or layers (metal inlay) having a slit (S) allowing for contactless functionality, and (ii) a UV hard coat on a release-carrier layer disposed on one or both sides of the metal core subassembly, and (iii) everything may be laminated together in a single step, providing a metal face smartcard. The hard coat provides a durable, scratch-resistant surface, and protects underlying layers while allowing the passage of a laser beam to write on or within the underlying layer(s), such as a transparent laser-reactive layer. Techniques for hiding or camouflaging the slit provide a more aesthetically pleasing appearance to the metal transaction card.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for developing an application for utilization on a selected end user computing device may comprise modeling a screen display specific to the selected end user computing device, utilizing a development user computing device, by selecting an object for a user interface display or a control of a functionality of the application running on the selected user computing device, at run time, utilizing a prototyping display screen modeler during design time, which may be operating on the development user computing device or being accessed over a network by the development user computing device and constructing the model screen display specific to the selected end user computing device during design time, utilizing a user interface display on the development user device of a selection of controls or a selection of data sources displayed on the user interface display of the development user device.

The smart interface assembly includes first and second couplings for interfacing with the personal computer and the analytical meter. The smart interface assembly has processing and memory capabilities facilitating displaying test results from an analytical system on a computer. The interface can also function as a storage device allowing transfer, access, or syncing of data from a diagnostic system to or by the personal computer without the need for special drivers, and also can facilitate communications between the diagnostic system and the computer using standard device drivers likely to be already present on the computer.
