Patent number: 11939945Abstract: A wave energy capture system deployed in water converts mechanical motion induced by waves in the water to electrical energy. A controller of the wave energy capture system receives input regarding real-time wave conditions in a vicinity of the wave energy capture system. The controller applies a control model to the received input to select a value of a control parameter for the wave energy capture system, where the control model includes a model that has been trained using machine learning to take wave condition data as input and to output control parameter values selected based on the wave condition data in order to increase an amount of energy captured by the wave energy capture system. The controller implements the selected value of the control parameter on the wave energy capture system.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2023Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: OCEAN MOTION TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Alexander J. Patent number: 11922220Abstract: Embodiments of systems, apparatuses and methods provide enhanced function as a service (FaaS) to users, e.g., computer developers and cloud service providers (CSPs). A computing system configured to provide such enhanced FaaS service include one or more controls architectural subsystems, software and orchestration subsystems, network and storage subsystems, and security subsystems. The computing system executes functions in response to events triggered by the users in an execution environment provided by the architectural subsystems, which represent an abstraction of execution management and shield the users from the burden of managing the execution. The software and orchestration subsystems allocate computing resources for the function execution by intelligently spinning up and down containers for function code with decreased instantiation latency and increased execution scalability while maintaining secured execution.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2019Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Mohammad R. Publication number: 20240071056Abstract: A method and system provide for augmenting a photograph. An unlabeled photograph is obtained. A weakly augmented photograph and a strongly augmented photograph are obtained from the unlabeled photograph based on different types of data augmentation methods. The weakly augmented photograph is processed through a model to generate multiple weakly augmented photograph class predictions (with assigned probabilities). The multiple weakly augmented photograph class predictions are converted into positive pseudo-labels (indicating a presence of a class) or negative pseudo-labels (indicating absence of a class) using different fixed percentile thresholds. The strongly augmented photograph is processed through the model to generate a strongly augmented photograph class prediction. The model is trained to make the strongly augmented photograph label prediction match the positive pseudo-label via a cross-entropy loss. The trained model is then utilized to label the unlabeled photograph with multiple labels.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Applicant: Autodesk, Inc.Inventors: Junxiang Huang, Alexander Huang, Beatriz Chinelato Guerra, Yen-Yun Yu

Publication number: 20220156418Abstract: A method and system provide the ability to track object progress in a drawing sheet. An object type is created and activity types are assigned to the object type. The activity types represent a progression of an object of the object type. A portable document format (PDF) drawing sheet that has multiple symbol instances is obtained. A graphic region containing a symbol instance is selected in the drawing sheet. A markup is created on the drawing sheet based on the selected graphic region. Multiple symbol instances are autonomously detected based on the selected graphic region. Progress tracking markup instances of the markup are autonomously created for the detected symbol instances and are linked to the object type. The progress of the object instances is visually tracked using graphical user interface (GUI) visualizations that provide a visual representation of the progression via the markups.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2021Publication date: May 19, 2022Applicant: Autodesk, Inc.Inventors: Xin Xu, Graham Garland, James Wang, Cory Wolnewitz, Christine Laffitte, Alexander Huang, Nikita Shalimov, Nicholas Moores, Brian Suwan Soe, Anand Rajagopal, Arjun Nayini, Sanjay Penumetsa Raju, Jeffrey Lin, Joseph Michael Bryan, Paulo Rodrigues Espeschite Arantes

Patent number: 7425202Abstract: Tissue biopsy is performed through a central passage of a cannula covered with a protective sleeve. The protective sleeve is attached at one end to a location at or near a distal end of the cannula. After the biopsy procedure is completed, the cannula is withdrawn so that its exterior slides through the sleeve. In this way, the trailing edge of the sleeve is invaginated within the proximal portions of the itself to envelop the sleeve exterior and reduce the risk of inadvertent tumor cell seeding.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2004Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignee: Percutaneous Systems, Inc.Inventors: Alexander Huang, Henry Lao, David Needleman

Publication number: 20080049635Abstract: A method of measuring a one-way packet travel time from a first communication system to a second communication system comprises receiving a Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) packet outputted by the second communication system. A Network Time Protocol (NTP) timestamp value is extracted from the RTCP packet, and a time value, T, is determined based on the NTP timestamp value. A Last Sender Report (LSR) value and a Delay since LSR (DLSR) value are extracted from the RTCP packet. A value L=T?LSR?DLSR is determined to measure the one-way packet travel time from the first communication system to the second communication system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2006Publication date: February 28, 2008Applicant: SBC Knowledge Ventures, LPInventors: Alexander Huang, Wallace Smith, James James

Publication number: 20070073107Abstract: A protective sheath for endoscopes and other elongate medical devices comprises a sheath, a tissue anchor, and a stiffening element or guide. The stiffening element is used to advance the protective sheath through a working channel or other central passage of the endoscope, while the tissue anchor immobilizes a free end of the sheath at a body orifice as the endoscope is introduced. In this way, the protective sheath will drawn from the working channel, evert over a distal end of the endoscope, and remain stationary over the device relative to the body lumen as the endoscope is advanced.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2005Publication date: March 29, 2007Applicant: Percutaneous Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth Peartree, Alexander Huang

Publication number: 20070016244Abstract: A ureteral decompression device comprises a guide member and an anchoring structure. The guide member may be introduced through the urethra and bladder into the ureter so that the anchor structure passes a lodged kidney stone. Once past the stone, the anchor structure can be compacted to anchor the guide member in place. The anchor structure will permit leakage and the guide member will provide a leakage path directly past the stone, thus decompressing the kidney.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2006Publication date: January 18, 2007Applicant: Percutaneous Systems, Inc.Inventors: Robert Behl, Alexander Huang, Linh Dinh
