    Abstract: Provided are antimicrobial compositions including at least one biocide covalently bound to a polyurethane. The biocide moiety may comprise triclosan, a triclosan derivative, or a quaternary ammonium salt. Further provided are methods of reducing biofilm formation or microbial growth on a surface, the method including applying to the surface an antimicrobial composition including at least one biocide covalently attached to a polyurethane.

The polyethylenimine biocides may be used in a variety of consumer products, coatings, coating compositions, and medical devices to prevent growth of microorganisms.
