  • Patent number: 8143819
Abstract: An energy conservation system that realizes optimized power demand control for alternating current electrical motors equipped with variable frequency drives is implemented by switching an electrical motor via bypass systems from a variable frequency and speed drive mode of operation to a constant frequency and speed drive mode of operation and from a constant frequency and speed drive mode of operation to a variable frequency and speed drive mode of operation. The switching from one mode of operation to another is automatically executed based on the comparative analysis of historical and current trends of the electrical motor actual power demand at variable and constant speed drive modes of operation at various loads. The system optimizes the electrical motor operation by selecting the mode with the lower magnitude of cumulative power demand for the motor and motor drive at a given motor load.

  • Publication number: 20030213851
Abstract: The present invention is related to a wide variety of thermostats and thermostats/humidistats for air temperature and relative humidity control in buildings having heating, cooling and humidification systems. We suggest using a forced air device to take a representative air sample near the building occupant's location in order to enhance indoor climate control and improve its accuracy. When this forced air device is used, the existing standard thermostat or standard thermostat/humidistat becomes a non-inertial thermostat or thermostat/humidistat. We also suggest to equip non-inertial programmable thermostat or thermostat/humidistat as well as standard programmable thermostat or thermostat/humidistat with an advisory computing system. This system will provide the occupant with a guiding tool and enable him to make an informative decision about set points selection in relation to the projected energy savings or energy over-consumption at particular mode of operation, as compared to the base set points.

  • Patent number: 5419489
Abstract: The present invention is related to many space heating and cooling systems, which include central building heating and/or cooling source, such as boiler, chiller, furnace, air handling unit, etc. and which have at least one stationary room thermostat to control climate conditions in the building. It is suggested in addition to a stationary thermostat to use an extra thermostat, so called mobile thermostat, to provide flexible room air temperature control at any building location which is critical at the particular moment, including the rooms which do not have a stationary thermostats. This mobile thermostat has an authority, if it is necessary, to be override control of the stationary thermostat at any time and, therefore, to control room space heating and/or space cooling at any particular location to provide a required comfort in any room in the building.

  • Patent number: 5337955
Abstract: This invention provides an arrangements for the method of control of a boiler heating capacity for a hydronic heating system, which is recommended for a heat supply to a single building or to a group of buildings. The control of heating system capacity is provided by changing the boiler supply hot water temperature inversely with the outside air temperature measured by a momentary temperature sensor and transformed by a temperature converter. The control is achieved by changing fuel supply to a burner of a boiler proportionally to a disagreement between a boiler supply water temperature and determined value of the outside air temperature. It is, however, obvious that the same method of control can be used for steam boilers and for chillers to control buildings space heating and space cooling as well.
