Abstract: The invention provides a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine comprising supplying to said engine a dispersion, the dispersion comprises: (a) a metal base; (b) a surfactant; and (c) an organic medium in which the metal base is uniformly dispersed by physical processes, wherein the metal base has a mean average particle size of at least 10 nanometres to less than 1 ?m; and the dispersion has a solids content of greater than 15 wt %. The invention further provides a lubricant composition containing said dispersion.

Abstract: A new method to produce photographic images is provided which comprises:(a) imagewise exposing a photographic assembly which contains at least during the silver halide developing step, in order optionally a supercoat layer, at least one silver halide emulsion layer, a layer containing a substantive azamethine compound and a photobase, there being optionally one or more interlayers between each of said components(b) treating the exposed photographic assembly with an aqueous processing bath so as to provide in the silver halide emulsion layer or layers a solution or dispersion of a bleach developer compound, thereby to develop the latent silver image in the silver halide emulsion(s), and(c) in the non-latent image areas allowing the bleach developer compound to diffuse in a counter-imagewise manner from the silver halide emulsion layer (s) to the layer containing substantive azamethine compound and there to bleach the compound to form a dye image.

Abstract: A photographic silver halide material is provided which comprises in at least one layer a solid dispersion of at least one water-insoluble methine dye of the formula ##STR1## wherein L and L' each represent an optionally substituted methine group, n is O, 1 or 2, Z represents the atoms necessary to complete an optionally substituted acidic carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, Y represents the atoms necessary to complete an optionally substituted basic carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, at least one of the rings Z and Y being substituted by a --COOH group or being substituted by a group which comprises a --COOH group. The solid dispersion of the dye is finely divided in the binder material of said layer, which is normally a filter or anti-halation layer. A marked increase of sharpness of the images obtained from photographic material containing in at least one layer the solid dyestuff dispersion can be observed.

Abstract: A photographic silver halide material is provided which comprises in at least one layer a solid dispersion of a water-insoluble dye of the formula ##STR1## wherein each of L, L' and L" are an optionally subsituted methine group, n is 0 or 1, Q is an optionally substituted aryl group or an optionally substituted heteroaromatic group, R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical or an optionally substituted amino group, R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy, amino, --CN, --COOR.sup.1, --CONR.sup.1 R.sup.2 or --COR.sup.1 group or an optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical, and R.sub.3 represents a --CN, --COOR.sup.3, --CONR.sup.3 R.sup.4, --SO.sub.3 H, --SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. or --COR.sup.3 group, where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical, in a binder.
