Patent number: 5888079Abstract: A telephone service panel includes a panel base assembly having multiple subscriber modules each having a test receptacle connected to an incoming line, and each having a set of subscriber terminals for connection to a local subscriber circuit; access to each receptacle is blocked by an individual subscriber-controlled padlocked cover; a composite cover over all the test receptacles consists essentially of a spine carrying the padlocked covers and locked to the panel base assembly, but releasable by service personnel for access to all the subscriber modules. So long as the test receptacle is empty, each subscriber circuit is connected to its incoming line; to disconnect the subscriber circuit from the incoming line, it is only necessary to insert the plug of a test device into the test receptacle; insertion of the plug also connects the test device to the incoming line.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1997Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Assignee: Eugene A NordenInventor: Alexander R. Patent number: 5564941Abstract: Two forms of insulation-displacement connection devices and panels of such devices are disclosed; the connection devices of each of the panels include upstanding connectors bent to provide paired wire-gripping finger portions in a plane parallel to the related panel. Each form of the connecting devices includes a rotor operable about an axis perpendicular to the related panel, the rotor being arranged to drive upstanding inserted wires broadside--parallel to the rotor's axis--from starting positions opposite to the ends of the pairs of wire-gripping finger portions to end positions gripped between the wire-gripping finger portions. The wire's insulation is displaced and the center conductor of the wire is bared locally as the wire is forced between the wire-gripping finger portions. In both embodiments, there are two pairs of wire-gripping finger portions, at opposite sides of the rotor's axis.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1994Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Assignee: Eugene A. Patent number: 5299945Abstract: A plug-in terminal block is driven into a companion receptacle and drawn out of the receptacle by an actuator pivoted to the receptacle. The actuator, having driven the plug-in block into the receptacle, is in its blocking position, blocking the plug-in block against removal from the receptacle and blocking insertion of a terminal block into the receptacle. A locking device locks the actuator in its blocking position. The actuator is accessible for operating the locking device and for tilting the actuator via the door opening of an enclosure.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1992Date of Patent: April 5, 1994Assignee: Connectron, Inc.Inventor: Alexander R. Patent number: 4861285Abstract: The disclosed switching fusible apparatus includes a fuse-holding device receivable in a receptacle and rotatable to "ON", "OFF" and "RELEASE" positions. The fuse-holding device comprises a fuse holder for containing a larger fuse and it may comprise the fuse holder containing an adapter which, in turn, contains a smaller fuse. A slot in the exposed end of the fuse holder receives a screw-driver for selectively turning the fuse-holding device when tool-operable apparatus is required, or a knob is interlocked with the slot in high-profile apparatus. Contact is made to each end cap of each fuse in the "ON" position of the fuse-holding device by a contact tab that is not significantly yielding per se but which is rendered prominently resilient by oppositely extending resilient torsion supports extending along the elongated fuse-holding device.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1988Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Assignee: Connectron, Inc.Inventor: Alexander R. Patent number: 4775324Abstract: The disclosed embodiments represent novel compact terminal blocks and novel compact side-by-side assemblies of an elongated terminal block, a wiring channel at one side, and an electric circuit structure at its opposite side. Current paths slant prominently in traversing the terminal block, including slanted end portions of wiring from the wiring channel and slanted conductors in the terminal block. Corner recesses in a first side of the terminal block admit the slanted end portions of wiring from the wiring channel. Corner recesses in the second side of the terminal block opposite the first side contain projecting terminals for plug-in connection to companion plug-in terminals of an electric circuit structure or for soldered connection to conductors of the electric circuit structure, or the second-side recesses (in another embodiment) admit slanted end portions of wiring from a second wiring channel to the terminal block's connecting devices.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1983Date of Patent: October 4, 1988Assignee: Connectron, Inc.Inventor: Alexander R. Patent number: 4500579Abstract: The preferred sheet-metal strips of parts as disclosed have rows of connections to break-away strips each of which is removable by rocking it about an axis along the row of connections, tearing connection-weakening incisions that extend across said axis. Each connection can be weak and easily broken and yet each part is safely held by distributed connections against being knocked free or distorted in handling. The parts have projections that form a pattern for gang-assembly to a like pattern of receptor elements. The strip of parts is stiffened, becoming a stick of parts, by disposing one or both break-away strips at an angle to a common plane of portions of the parts that are unified by break-away connections.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: February 19, 1985Inventor: Alexander R. Norden

Patent number: 4482938Abstract: The disclosed apparatus involves circuit modules paired with companion terminal assemblies alongside each other in an enclosure. The circuit modules are operable along front-to-back paths for installation in the enclosure and removal. The terminal assemblies are also operable along front-to-back paths but at a slant angle to the paths of the circuit modules. The sides of each circuit module and its companion terminal assembly have mating contacts that are in engagement in the operative condition of the terminal assembly and the adjacent circuit module. As a terminal assembly is moved forward or raised from its installed or operative condition, its contacts have a sidewise component of movement that carry them out of the paths of the module contacts, so that the module can be removed and installed with ease. The apparatus can be wired from the front when each terminal assembly is in its raised condition. Interlock means enforces certain sequential operations of the circuit modules and the terminal assemblies.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1982Date of Patent: November 13, 1984Inventor: Alexander R. Norden
