  • Patent number: 9484618
Abstract: An antenna configuration is particularly suitable for use within a front panel assembly of an electronic device, such as a set-top box. According to an exemplary embodiment, the electronic device includes a chassis, a printed circuit board and an F-shaped antenna. The printed circuit board includes a ground portion and a dielectric portion. The ground portion is electrically coupled to the chassis. The F-shaped antenna includes a first portion, a second portion and a third portion. The first portion of the F-shaped antenna extends along the dielectric portion of the printed circuit board. The second portion of the F-shaped antenna is electrically coupled to the ground portion of the printed circuit board. The third portion of the F-shaped antenna extends between the ground portion and the dielectric portion of the printed circuit board and is electrically coupled to a signal processor via a reactive element (jX1, Jx2).

  • Patent number: 8463228
Abstract: A method and apparatus for demodulating different type of signals having at least a portion of overlapping frequency ranges is provided. The method and apparatus receives at least one a broadcast signal and a home networking signal, wherein the frequency range of the broadcast signal overlaps the frequency range of the home networking signal. The system further determines if the received signal is a broadcast signal or a home networking signal and provides the respective signal to a demodulator for demodulation.

  • Publication number: 20120225626
Abstract: The present invention concerns a system and associated method for providing attenuation of a received signal in a two-way communication circuit without the use of a separate switchable attenuator. Specifically, the attenuation provided by a transmit/receive switch set to the transmit position during reception is used to provide attenuation to a signal reception path.

  • Patent number: 8233869
Abstract: An apparatus such as a television signal receiver provides an AGC function which reduces cross-modulation distortion. According to an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus includes first and second amplifiers coupled in series and a gain control circuit. The gain control circuit controls the gains of the first and second amplifiers in response to the magnitude of the input signal. The gain of the first amplifier remains substantially unchaged at a first level while the magnitude of the input signal is within a first range. The gain of the second amplifier is gradually reduced in the first range. The gain of the first amplifier remains substantially unchaged at a second level, which is lower than the first level, while the magnitude of the input signal is within a second range. The gain of the second amplifier gradually reduced in the second range. The gain of first amplifier is gradually reduced at least in part of a third range while the magnitude of the input signal is within the third range.

  • Publication number: 20110061081
Abstract: A reflector apparatus improves signal quality within video home networks. According to an exemplary embodiment, the reflector apparatus includes a first terminal (A) for receiving a broadcast signal from a signal source, and a second terminal (B) for outputting the broadcast signal to a plurality of external devices coupled to the reflector apparatus via a signal splitter. The reflector apparatus further includes circuitry for receiving a network signal from a first one of the plurality of external devices and controlling a gain of said network signal responsive to a control signal from a second one of the plurality of external devices to thereby generate a reflected network signal. The reflected network signal is output to the second one of said plurality of external devices.
