    Abstract: A universal roll stand includes two vertical housings each being composed of a single piece, upper and lower transverse girders arranged above and below the vertical housings and lateral support projections for receiving vertical rolls. Tie rods are guided by the vertical housings and the transverse girders. Crossheads are insertable into recesses of the lateral support projections. A rigid universal stand is formed by connecting and screwing together the two vertical housings through the crossheads and the upper and lower transverse girders with the tie rods.

    Abstract: A method of determining the spring characteristic of a roughing and finishing stand and a method of adjusting the roll gap of the roll stand prior to rolling, particularly for rolling lightweight sections with narrow tolerances, wherein at least one horizontal roll of the stand is adjustable. The stand has a swingable stand top which connects the housing posts of the stand housings, wherein the stand top is connected to the housing posts by tie rods which are pretensioned by a hydraulic tensioning device. At least the upper of the horizontal rolls is moved by an electromechanical adjustment unit of the rolls towards the other roll and the rolling forces to be measured between the roll bodies is applied by the hydraulic tensioning device, wherein the electromechanical adjustment unit is adjustable by predeterminable adjustment distances in the unloaded state while maintaining roll contact.

    Abstract: An arrangement for guiding rolled material, particularly section steel, between the rolls of a rolling mill stand. The arrangement includes support beams which are located transversely of the rolling direction above and below the pitch line. The support beams are mounted on pairs of housing posts so as to be vertically movable and driven by a lifting motor. Support members for guide elements of a pair of guide elements for the rolled material are connected to the support beams so as to be pivotable, adjustable and fixable. Each support member of the guide elements is arranged on an independent additional support beam connected to the pair of housing posts. The additional support beam is exchangeably and releasably connectible and fixable to the support beam.

    Abstract: A rolling mill train, particularly a rolling mill train in a section mill with at least one group of rolling mill stands including n stands in a group. The rolling mill stands have at least horizontal guide members which are arranged at least on the middle stands spaced closely together in the pitch line. Every other rolling mill stand of the group of stands is constructed so as to be displaceable from the pitch line by at least the width of the guide member for the purpose of exchanging the guide members and/or the rolls. The adjacent rolling mill stands may be arranged stationary in the pitch line. Also disclosed is a method for controlling the exchange of the stands in the rolling mill train.

    Abstract: A skew-rolling mill for reducing solid or hollow cross-sections, in which a roll carrier and a first hollow shaft rotatably mounted therein and allowing passage of the rolled stock are supported rotatable independently of each other in a stand. The roll carrier comprises three driven conical working rolls inclined to the rolled stock axis and mounted circumferentially spaced at 120.degree. intervals and adjustable with respect to the rolled stock axis. The shafts carrying the working rolls, whose axes cross the rolled stock axis at short distances apart, are each drivably connected to an intermediate shaft by way of a respective bevel gear pair.
