Abstract: A provider definition represents software that implements the semantics of one or more operations on an object in an object-oriented system. A provider represents a specific instance of a provider definition. One or more providers implement operations for objects in the system. A component of the system called the provider registry maintains a mapping of providers and operations as defined by the provider definitions. When handling a request to invoke a operation on an object, the system dynamically dispatches to the correct provider based on this mapping. Where more than one provider are registered as implementing the desired operation on an object, techniques are disclosed for selecting a provider to perform the desired operation.

Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, there are provided mechanisms and methods for creating a telemetry process for a service in a computing environment. With these mechanisms and methods, it is possible to deploy telemetry processes for the service based upon a specification of one or more operational metrics for determining the status of the service. This ability to deploy telemetry processes for the service based upon a specification of one or more operational metrics for determining the status of the service makes it possible to attain improved monitoring capabilities and more efficient usage of computing resources assigned to monitoring tasks for a service in a computer system.

Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system architecture and associated method for establishing the system architecture are disclosed to provide cloud computing in an existing enterprise. The system architecture provides cloud computing in an existing enterprise. The system architecture comprises a service communications interface and an infrastructure communications interface. A cloud structure is communicatively coupled to the service communications interface and the infrastructure communications interface, with the cloud structure arranged to be coupled through the service communications interface to individual business units. The cloud structure is further arranged to be coupled through the infrastructure communications interface to a plurality of enterprise resources.
