Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for vehicle safety technologies. An example method can include detecting, based on sensor data captured by an autonomous vehicle (AV), an emergency event associated with the AV; and in response to detecting the emergency event, generating information about the emergency event based on the sensor data and sending, to an emergency responder, a wireless signal including a request for help from the emergency responder and the information about the emergency event; and based on a determination that the emergency responder is within a threshold proximity to the AV, providing additional data associated with the emergency event to the emergency responder and/or one or more devices associated with the emergency responder.

Abstract: An autonomous vehicle (AV) maintenance system engages a user of an AV to assist in maintenance tasks. A sensor interface receives data captured by a sensor of the AV. An issue detector processes the sensor data to detect an issue in the AV. A user interface module instructs a user to perform a maintenance task addressing the detected issue. A verification module verifies that the user successfully completed the maintenance task.

Abstract: A method for a video communication system for a rideshare system includes conducting at least a portion of a video communication session involving a passenger using at least one exterior audio/video component on an exterior surface of an AV dispatched to a designated location; and transferring the video communication session to at least one interior audio/video component on an interior of the AV.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for child-friendly authentication for autonomous vehicle rides. In particular, systems and methods are provided for offering alternative authentication methods that automatically engage child-friendly features. The systems and methods provided enable unsupervised children to take advantage of autonomous rideshare and delivery programs using child-friendly authentication methods. Additionally, augmented autonomous vehicle safety and security practices for children are provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting when a mobile device is left in a vehicle, and returning forgotten devices to owners. Additionally, systems and methods are provided for preventing mobile devices from being left in vehicles. In particular, sensors inside a vehicle as well as sensors on mobile devices can be used to identify when a mobile device remains in a vehicle after the owner has exited the vehicle and ended their trip. Systems and methods are provided for notifying the user of the forgotten device and intelligently returning the device to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creation of custom behavior zones for autonomous vehicles, providing a more tailored experience for passengers as well as businesses. Custom behavior zones allow passengers to request or select a specific pick-up/drop-off location on private property. In some examples, custom behavior zones are created in private gated communities, on residential properties with long driveways, on government property, and at businesses that have multiple entrances and/or offer different services at various locations on the business property.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for long distance trips in an autonomous vehicle fleet. In particular, systems and methods are provided for autonomous vehicle trips that are a longer distance than a vehicle can travel without recharging. In some implementations, a user is provided an option between stopping to recharge the autonomous vehicle and switching from a first autonomous vehicle to a second autonomous vehicle at a selected stopping location.

Abstract: A designated location preview method includes obtaining an image of a portion of an environment of a vehicle dispatched to a designated location in response to a service request from a user, wherein the obtaining is performed using at least one onboard sensor of the vehicle; and displaying the image of the environment portion on a user interface (UI) of a user device substantially in real-time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for an automated process for vehicle service. In particular, an individually owned vehicle is integrated with a service provider platform for a fleet of vehicles such that data flows bidirectionally between the vehicle and the platform. The bidirectional flow of data enables an intelligent and automated end-to-end maintenance and/or repair process for the individually owned vehicle, including issue detection, accident management, and seamless vehicle exchange. For example, the vehicle can send a signal to the platform to schedule a repair and request a replacement vehicle from the platform during the repair. The platform can coordinate with a facility to schedule the repair, send a signal to the vehicle to autonomously drive itself to the scheduled repair, and provide a replacement vehicle to the vehicle's home during the repair.

In particular, systems and methods are provided to integrate users' calendars with a ridehail application to provide personal chauffeur-type services. Integrating a ridehail service application with a user's calendar and online schedule enables the ridehail service to act as a personal around-the-clock chauffeur, with an autonomous vehicle appearing when needed and taking the user to their destination with no additional input.

In particular, systems and methods for an immersive in-vehicle experience are provided, with customizable virtual and augmented reality options. Systems and techniques are provided for vehicles to perform real-time detection and augmentation of the real world environment, including tracked objects and buildings in the real world environment. The vehicles use intelligently matched vehicle sensor data, map data, and other source data for detection and augmentation of the environment. In some examples, procedurally generated three-dimensional (3D) environments are provided, which are based on a current ride route and surrounding real world environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for targeted advertisements displayed on a vehicle. A dynamic advertising platform leverages various ridehail service modalities to present targeted advertisements to users and bystanders. The modalities can include ridehail applications, external vehicle screens, interior vehicle screens, and other in-car experience formats. The targeted advertisements can be selected based on various factors, which can be personalized based on the user as well as based on the advertising business's preferences.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for autonomous vehicle passenger safety monitoring following an autonomous vehicle route. In particular, an autonomous vehicle waits for a selected time period after a passenger exits the vehicle. In some examples, the autonomous vehicle remains until the passenger has entered a building at the passenger's destination. In some examples, the autonomous vehicle remains until the passenger is no longer detectable by the vehicle's sensors. During the waiting period, the passenger may choose to re-enter the vehicle.
