  • Patent number: 11928029
Abstract: A system that implements a data storage service may store data for a database table in multiple replicated partitions on respective storage nodes. In response to a request to back up a table, the service may back up individual partitions of the table to a remote storage system independently and (in some cases) in parallel, and may update (or create) and store metadata about the table and its partitions on storage nodes of the data storage service and/or in the remote storage system. Backing up each partition may include exporting it from the database in which the table is stored, packaging and compressing the exported partition for upload, and uploading the exported, packaged, and compressed partition to the remote storage system. The remote storage system may be a key-value durable storage system in which each backed-up partition is accessible using its partition identifier as the key.

  • Publication number: 20070250715
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software products are disclosed that control file sharing of copyright protected electronic files over a communication network. A digital watermark in an electronic file includes information on content servers that are authorized to download to the electronic file to a requesting party. When the electronic file is downloaded from a particular content server to a requesting party, the information on the authorized content servers in the digital watermark is processed to determine if the downloading content server is authorized to be downloading the electronic file. If the downloading content server is authorized, then the downloading of the electronic file is allowed to continue. If the downloading content server is not authorized, then the electronic file is blocked from being downloaded to the requesting party.

  • Publication number: 20070140460
Abstract: Communication networks, phones, and associated methods are disclosed that provide directory services to users of phones. A phone displays a directory search screen to a user, and the user enters one or more directory search parameters. The phone generates a request message that includes the directory search parameter(s), and transmits the request message to a communication network (e.g., a wireless network or a VoIP network). An application server in the communication network receives the request message, and queries a directory server based on the directory search parameter(s). The application server receives directory search results from the directory server, and transmits a response message to the phone that includes the directory search results. The phone then displays the directory search results to the user.

  • Publication number: 20060206504
Abstract: A communication network is described that allows legacy devices to access an IMS network. The communication network includes a switching system, an IMS network, and a non-IMS network. The switching system includes a subscriber database that is pre-provisioned with identities of IMS subscribers using legacy devices. When in operation, a calling party places a call through a legacy device. The switching system receives the call and accesses the subscriber database based on a calling party identifier (e.g., a phone number, URL, etc) to determine if the calling party is an IMS subscriber. If the calling party is an IMS subscriber, then the switching system routes the call to the IMS network. If the calling party is not an IMS subscriber, then the switching system routes the call to the non-IMS network.
