  • Patent number: 10386196
Abstract: The route speed of a mobile global positioning satellite (GPS) navigation unit in a vehicle movable along one of a plurality of available route segments of a route having a plurality of intersections, is determined by locating a first and a second of the intersections, by locating a start boundary point, by locating a plurality of end boundary points for all the route segments, and by receiving geographic location information of the vehicle at an initial trajectory point located past the start boundary point, and a subsequent trajectory point past the end boundary point in the one route segment into which the vehicle moved. The trajectory points are associated with trajectory times. A server determines the route speed of the one route segment by dividing a differential distance between the trajectory points by a differential time between the trajectory times. The route speed of the other route segments is likewise determined to aid in route optimization.

  • Publication number: 20170265045
Abstract: A dynamic location-based group is formed that ensures required responders. A request for a new location-based group call relative to a defined location is received at a controller from an initiating device. The controller determines a plurality of required responder types for responding to the location and forms a group including subscriber units meeting one of a plurality of required responder types and a set of location-based group formation rules. The controller then determines if subscriber units in the formed group meet the required responder types. If not, the controller modifies the location-based group formation rules and re-forms the group including subscriber units meeting one of the plurality of required responder types and the modified location-based group formation rules. The controller then causes audio or data transmitted by the initiating device to be provided to the subscriber units in the re-formed group.

  • Patent number: 9693211
Abstract: Dynamic location-based group formation is provided for a movable incident scene (MIS) in a wireless radio communication system comprising a plurality of first subscriber units. A controller receives, from a requesting device, a request for a new group call for a MIS. The controller receives an initial location associated with the MIS and an indication of a speed and direction of travel of the MIS, and then determines one or more potential future locations of the MIS. The controller identifies a set of one or more inclusion threshold rules for each of the one or more potential future locations, and forms a location-based group including first subscriber units meeting at least one inclusion threshold rule for any one of the one or more potential future locations. The controller causes audio and/or data transmitted by the requesting device to be provided to the first subscriber units in the formed group.

  • Patent number: 9686665
Abstract: Dynamic group formation in a wireless radio communication system including a plurality of subscriber units is implemented using variable distance parameters. First, a request for a new group call relative to a defined location is received at a controller from a requesting device. A current location of each of a plurality of potential responding second subscriber units is determined. A maximum response distance associated with each of the second subscriber units is determined as a function of a stored mode of transport associated with each of the second subscriber units. A group is formed including second subscriber units having current locations that fall within the maximum response distance relative to the defined location associated with that second subscriber unit. Audio or data transmitted by the requesting device is then caused to be provided to the second subscriber units in the formed group.
