  • Patent number: 6070481
Abstract: A piston actuated wheel clutch includes the use of a clutch plate 26 to directly engage a driven member 14, where the driven member 14 may comprise the rim 94 of a wheel. The clutch plate 26 is divided into clutch portions 40 to 46 which expand outward when pushed by hydraulicly actuated pistons mounted within a drive shaft 20. When expanded, the clutch plate 26 engages the driven member 14.

  • Patent number: 6054799
Abstract: A socket that can be adapted to insert and remove an oxygen sensor or a modified spark plug. The socket has a open portion that may be used to accommodate an electrical portion of an oxygen sensor while maintaining proper functioning of the socket. The open portion extends through a portion of the socket while leaving an intact bottom portion, allowing much of the strength of a conventional socket to be maintained.

  • Patent number: 6000293
Abstract: A hydraulic transmission system includes the use of a geared cone 12 having geared rings 46-52 which mesh with respective clutches 30-36 of a drive shaft 16. The clutches 30-36 individually engage by use of hydraulic pressure directed by an input chamber 102. Engagement is accomplished when an internal parted disc 62 separates as a result of hydraulic fluid pressure and engages upon an, otherwise free-wheeling, internal surface of the clutch's external dish 60. When engagement occurs, work is transferred from the input shaft 18, through the gear cone 12, to the dish 60, through the engaged disc 62 and to the drive shaft 16.

  • Patent number: 5950490
Abstract: A multi-clutched transmission system which may be implemented in an automobile or other motor vehicle. A common drive shaft is generally coupled to a number of clutches comprising a number of inner drive portions and a number of outer portions. A number of gears may be provided that are in contact with a selected one of the clutches. A pressurized hydraulic input chamber may move within the system to engage one of the clutches with a particular gear. When a particular one of the clutches is engaged, a specific torque is generated at the output drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 5890513
Abstract: A non-wearing washer for fluid valve is non-fixedly mounted between washer retainer means disposed at a bottom end of a valve stem and the valve seat. The washer is retained in its operative position by configuring its top end to non-fixedly engage the washer retainer means while a tongue portion disposed on the underside of the main washer body is sized to extend down into the valve fitting end which attaches the valve to the discharging end of the fluid pipe. As the washer in non-fixedly mounted in between the bottom end of the valve stem and the valve seat, the rotation of valve stem 20 which translates into relative longitudinal displacement of the valve stem from the valve seat is not translated to the washer, thus eliminating the rotational wear now commonly associated with such washers.

  • Patent number: 5732668
Abstract: The present invention provides an internal combustion engine using one or more siamese pairs of pistons, cylinders and connecting rods to drive two or more independently moving drive shafts. The pairs of pistons first connect to a stabilizing system that forces the piston to move in a generally linear direction perpendicular to the cylinder walls. The stabilizing mechanism is controlled by a set of gears or other guiding mechanism. A pair of hinged connecting arms are connected to the two independently moving drive shafts. The separate connecting arms track the angular motion of the drive shafts while allowing the pistons to move in a generally linear direction perpendicular to the cylinder walls.

  • Patent number: 4846763
Abstract: A universal joint has an output shaft mounting a clevis which is projected into a yoke upon a drive shaft. A cylindrical roller connector is positioned within a socket in the clevis. A transverse pivot post upon the yoke extends through the roller connector for a pivotal connection with the roller connector upon a first axis. Transverse assembly pins project axially outward centrally of the roller connector into the clevis for pivotal movement of the clevis upon a second axis at right angles to the first axis.

  • Patent number: 4793527
Abstract: An aerosol dispenser has a housing adapted to hold an aerosol under pressure relative to a pressure outside of the housing. The housing has an interior chamber surrounded by interior walls and an opening to the outside. A stopper assembly is disposed within the housing and shaped to substantially conform to the shape of the housing. The stopper assembly is movable from a first position, in which the stopper assembly is substantially in contact with the interior walls of the housing so as to seal off any means of egress for the aerosol, from the interior chamber to the outside of the housing, to a second position, in which the stopper assembly is substantially out of contact with the interior walls so that at least one means of egress for the aerosol is established., At least one means of egress is traceable from the interior chamber to the opening to the outside.

  • Patent number: 4308002
Abstract: A Wankel-type engine has a housing with a chamber therein having parallel, axially spaced side surfaces joined by an end surface which has a semi-circular contour in an axially longitudinal plane. A rotor, eccentrically mounted on a shaft carried by the housing for rotation in the chamber, has a pair of side portions adjacent to the chamber side surfaces and a plurality of lobes, each having an end portion which has a semi-circular configuration corresponding to the semi-circular contour of the chamber end surface. Multi-layer, self-expanding seals engaging the chamber end surface are carried by each rotor end portion, and the rotor side portions carry seals engaging the chamber side surfaces. Lubrication is supplied to the seals. The semi-circular chamber end surface is provided on a separate member mounted between a pair of housing members, or alternatively is provided on complimentary portions of a pair of housing members.

  • Patent number: 4213427
Abstract: A four-cycle rotary engine having a generally tubular cylindrical housing with end covers rotatably supporting an output shaft extending axially of the housing, an annular cylinder block assembly, secured to and surrounding the output shaft, has a plurality of cylinders extending axially parallel to the output shaft and a piston mounted in each cylinder. Each piston has a rod constrained to move parallel to the axis of the output shaft by guides formed on the cylinder block, and each rod has roller followers engaging opposed cam tracks of a stationary drive ring secured to the housing. The cam tracks are sinusoidal, are circularly concentric with the axis of the drive shaft, define the working strokes of the cylinders, and cause the cylinder assembly and the output shaft to rotate from the reaction between each rod and the cam tracks on the combustion stroke of each piston.
