  • Patent number: 7206278
Abstract: A method, system, and device are provided for increasing the total amount of useful information transmitted in a radio communication system. The method includes receiving a selection signal with which a cluster is selected; receiving data streams of information from at least two subscribers so that the streams have identical characteristics; dividing the data streams into a plurality of bit streams in order to form bit groupings through the selection of at least one bit from each one of said bit streams, for the purpose of carrying out the allocation of a state to each one of the groupings formed. Each state is associated with the cluster selected. Thereafter, the components that define the states are transmitted using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).

  • Patent number: 7164664
Abstract: System that allocates a carrier frequency to a radio link, for transmitting data bursts between a remote unit and a fixed unit, by employing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing OFDM. The fixed unit records a predetermined number of parameters relative to the communication in course, for the purpose of weighting said parameters, such as number of errors in the radio link and number of retransmissions or the like, and allocates to these parameters a probability level. The fixed unit allocates a probability level to each carrier frequency, so that it responds to a communication set-up request allocating the carrier frequency with the highest probability.

  • Publication number: 20020034175
Abstract: Method for increasing the total amount of useful information (throughput) transmitted in a radiocommunication system in which are performed the functions of: reception of a selection signal with which a cluster is selected; reception of data streams of information from at least two subscribers so that said streams have identical characteristics; division of said data streams into a plurality of bit streams in order to form bit groupings through the selection of at least one bit from each one of said bit streams, for the purpose of carrying out the allocation of a state to each one of the groupings formed. • Patent number: 6285859
Abstract: A method for predistorting a signal sent from a first unit (U1) to a second unit, the first unit (U1) sending data to the second unit (U2) through a first channel and the second unit (U2) sending data to the first unit (U1) through a second channel. The method comprises the computing (53) of representative coefficients of the second channel (H2) on the basis of a second predetermined sequence sent (52) from the second unit (U2) to the first unit (U1). According to the method, the first unit (U1) sends a first predetermined sequence to the second unit (U2) which sends it back in the form received to the first unit (U1), in the form of a return sequence. The first unit (U1) computes representative coefficients of the first and second channels jointly (H1, H2) on the basis of the returned sequence received. The signal sent by the first unit is predistorted according to the representative coefficients of the channel and the said representative coefficients of the first and second channels jointly.

  • Publication number: 20010000703
Abstract: The present invention refers to a transmission/reception unit that exchanges data with a remote unit by means of a channel using distributed modulation/demodulation treatment means. The transmission/reception unit includes equalization means (23) to equalize a first signal received from said remote unit and predistortion means to predistort a second signal transmitted to said remote unit. According to the invention, the unit is characterized in that the modulation/demodulation treatment means operate in a non-linear way and the unit includes means (230) to store information that is representative of a non-linear distortion of said modulation/demodulation treatment means and which defines a non-linear reference, and means (233) to adjust coefficients (CO) in the equalization means (23) according to the signal received from the remote unit and said representative information, the mentioned adjusted coefficients being transmitted to said predistortion means.

  • Patent number: 6101219
Abstract: An adaptive equaliser particularly for equalising digital signals with analogue modulation, where use is made of a training sequence formed by a previously known sequence of symbols which is applied to said equaliser simultaneously with the demodulated signal present in the receiver. In this way a first estimate is made of the coefficients of the filter or filters of the equaliser that compensate the linear distortions in the transmission channel. The training sequence (TS), before being used in the equaliser (CEQ), is first applied to a lowpass filter whose transfer function is the same as that of the premodulation filter employed in the modulator. This transfer function also incorporates distortion effects, both linear and non-linear, to which the data are subjected in the receive side when they have been demodulated prior to their detection or regeneration.

  • Patent number: 5530406
Abstract: Based on a phase lock loop structure, having a reference signal generator (1), a first phase detector (2), a low pass filter (3), a VCO (4) and a frequency divider (5), in order to achieve a faster channel switching an maintain the design of the filters to be as simple as possible, a second phase detector (6) is provided that receives the reference signal (9) and a second output signal (11) coming from the frequency divider (5) and shifted 90.degree. with respect to its other output signal (10), and that generates a second phase error signal (13), in quadrature with the first phase error signal (12), that is filtered by a second low pass filter (7) thereby generating a second filtered phase error signal (15). The two filtered phase error signals (14,15) are provided to a quadratic correlator (8) whose output is provided to the VCO (4). Its amplitude is proportional to the difference of frequencies between the reference signal (9) and any of the output signals (10,11) from the frequency divider (5).
