  • Patent number: 6510762
Abstract: A control cam or a gear wheel having a plurality of layers of flat material placed one on top of the other. Each of the layers of flat material is of a multi-part form with partition lines that extend in a direction of planes over the layers of material. At least some of the partition lines of neighboring layers of the flat material are offset in relation to one another. The partition line of a layer of flat material is arranged so that in both circumferential directions it lies approximately equally spaced in relation to a partition line of a neighboring layer of flat material.

  • Publication number: 20020053255
Abstract: The invention relates to a simplified, economical and rapid method for the production of a camshaft. In accordance with the invention, functional elements (2) consisting of a plurality of flat material layers (3) are deposited on a base shaft (1). The base shaft (1) is then deformed by hydraulic expansion in such a way that the functional elements (2) are fixed on the base shaft (1).

  • Patent number: 6280115
Abstract: To secure a control element in the axial direction on a shaft member, the control element is pushed onto a region of the shaft member which has a slightly enlarged diameter, displacing shaft material in the process to form a burr on one side of the control element. Then a punch is pushed onto the enlarged diameter region to produce another burr by displacement of shaft material on the other side of the control element which is thus held axially on the shaft member in a positive manner in both directions. The control element is preferably formed from a multiplicity of layers of flat stock.

  • Patent number: 5836215
Abstract: A laminar cam for the control of gas-exchange valves of an internal combustion engine is made of a plurality of punched-out layers of flat stock assembled in adjacent and aligned relation and joined together by a pin and by laser welds.

  • Patent number: 5501121
Abstract: A camshaft arrangement includes a cam mounted for angular motion on a camshaft with the angular motion being limited by cooperating stops in the camshaft and in a neck portion of the cam defining an interchamber filled with damping fluid. Damping fluid is supplied to the interchamber by a passage in a camshaft bearing sleeve which is in communication with a longitudinal passage in the camshaft through a valve designed to prevent the longitudinal passage from draining.

  • Patent number: 5307768
Abstract: A camshaft arrangement has a series of cams mounted on a camshaft for limited angular motion relative to the camshaft in response to force applied by a closing spring for the associated valve and a series of fixed cams separated by spacer sleeves. All of the cams and spacer sleeves are assembled on the shaft by sliding them on from one end and are retained between stops on the shaft so that they seal recesses in the movable cams which are filled with a damping fluid.

  • Patent number: 4834048
Abstract: In the embodiment of the invention described in the specification, two inlet valves associated with a cylinder of an internal combustion engine are supplied through two separate inlet lines. One of the inlet valves is supplied with air and fuel at all engine speeds, and the other inlet valve is supplied with supplementary air at higher engine speeds only. The valve opening curves are so chosen that gas return flows are avoided in the case of the gas and air inlet valve, and a scavenging effect is achieved by maintaining the supplementary air inlet valve open for a longer time.

  • Patent number: 4231727
Abstract: A rotary vacuum pump is provided with a housing having a cylindrical chamber. A rotor having a plurality of slideably mounted vanes is mounted within the chamber by a shaft extending through an eccentric bore. Hydraulic oil delivered to the rotor under pressure urges the vanes against the chamber walls. Escaping oil lubricates and seals the vanes and also lubricate the rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4112783
Abstract: An exhaust gas return valve actuating rod has first and second rod portions adapted for connection between an exhaust gas control valve and throttle linkage. The rods are interconnected by an eccentric connecting element which is spring connected to one of the rods and connected by a thread connection to the other rod. The eccentric connecting element enables convenient length adjustment of the connecting rod, even when it cannot be seen by the mechanic.

  • Patent number: 4018098
Abstract: An actuating rod for interconnecting a throttle with an exhaust gas return valve has first and second rod portions which are interconnected in force transmitting relation by a spring. The second rod portion is bent to extend parallel to the first rod portion over part of its length and has a loop surrounding the first portion and engaging the spring.

  • Patent number: 3989018
Abstract: Apparatus for recycling gas exhausted from an internal combustion engine includes a return conduit communicating with the intake manifold of the engine and a return valve for controlling the quantity of exhaust gas recycled to the intake manifold. A connecting linkage operatively coupling the return valve to the engine throttle valve insures that the return valve operates in accordance with the relative position of the throttle valve. The return valve includes a valve housing interposed between and communicating with the return conduit and the intake manifold and a valve body movable in the housing so as to vary the cross-sectional flow area available in the housing. A valve stem mounts the valve body at one end and is operatively coupled at its other end to the connecting linkage. In accordance with the invention, an elastic diaphragm extends radially outwardly from the valve stem of the return valve to the interior surface of the valve housing.
