  • Patent number: 5257698
Abstract: Pump-like inlet blading has operatively connected therewith a multi-stage stepped diffusor axially opening into a separation chamber. For the removal of light particles, openings or recesses are provided at the outlet side of an inner cylinder and such merge with withdrawal channels at the inner cylinder. If necessary, there are provided for the heavy particles a collecting groove at least in front of turbine-like outlet blading and from which lead openings, so-called saveall openings towards the outside. These saveall openings are briefly alternatingly opened and closed during operation of the stock suspension cleaner. The fluid stream of the cleaned stock suspension is removed by the turbine-like outlet blading. At least one part of the inner cylinder which delimits the separation chamber is separately rotatable relative to the outer cylinder, so that such inner cylinder part can be rotated at a different rotational speed than the outer cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5255447
Abstract: Heat protection hood for heated rolls (1) in particular for rapidly running rolls (1) in paper machines which are partly surrounded by the heat protection hood. In this arrangement an outer screen (7) is arranged partly around the roll (1) and is concentric to it. The outer screen (7) and a likewise concentrically extending partition screen (4) present between it and the roll (1) form an inner gap (5) and an outer gap (6). Respective deflection zones (9) for the air flow drawn along by the roll (1) in the inner gap (5) adjoin each of the ends of the partition screen (4). Deflecting units (10, 11) are provided there so as to deflect the recirculating air flow around the ends of the partition screen (4). The invention is intended to substantially reduce heat losses through radiation and convection and offers the possibility of influencing the axial temperature profile of the roll (1).

Abstract: The apparatus has at least one cam plate driven by a drive shaft in a piston pump or hydraulic pressure generator. The cam plate has a cam track or surface with at least two substantially sinusoidal protrusions and recesses or depressions on its circumference or perimeter. The rotation of this cam plate drives a crankshaft of a hydraulic piston and cylinder drive unit or motor by means of at least one plunger or cam follower or tappet and a piston through at least one transmission pipeline or conduit filled with a hydraulic medium. This transmission pipeline is attached without valves to the cylinder of the piston and is connected by means of an also valveless cylinder with a piston of the hydraulic piston and cylinder drive unit or motor.

  • Patent number: 4721154
Abstract: During the melt spinning process for producing metal foils having an amorphous structure, molten metal is cast through a slot-like nozzle onto a surface or wall which is rapidly moved past the nozzle. A particularly rapid quenching and cooling rate of the solidifying melt is achieved by providing cooling support elements which are supplied with a cooling pressure medium, on one side of the moved surface or wall and which aide is located opposite to or remote from the nozzle. Advantageously, the surface or wall is constructed as a thin-walled cylindrical shell or tube which is elastically deformable to some extent. In its shell interior, there are provided a number of rows of cooling support elements which may be controlled by thickness sensors and temperature profile sensors. There is thus rendered possible, the continuous production of amorphous metal foils.

The treatment drum is mounted by means of at least two axially spaced bearing rings. Each bearing ring has movable, hydrostatic support elements, distributed evenly around the circumference of the treatment drum, and arranged between a contact surface on the treatment drum and the housing. Each support element has two parts which are able to be displaced in radial direction to each other up to a final position and is supported on the housing via an adjustably elastic intermediate member.

  • Patent number: 4422318
Abstract: A roller is shown having an apparatus for cooling or heating the roller surface. The apparatus has essentially one or more chambers which are open relative to the roller surface. The chambers have a substantially square internal cross section. A fluid is fed in through the inlet ducts. During operation of the roller turbulence is formed in the chambers. The turbulence results in a longer retention time for the fluid in the chambers thus producing a greater cooling or heating effect for the amount of fluid fed in.

  • Patent number: 4404724
Abstract: A hydrostatic support or pressure element, especially for a controlled deflection roll, comprising a sealing or closing ledge having a sealing surface which closes a gap between a plunger of the support element and the supported part in a manner such that mixed friction prevails at the sealing surface of the sealing ledge. The sealing surface has a width which at most amounts to ten or five millimeters, respectively. The hydraulically effective surface of the plunger, producing a contact or press force for the sealing surface, is equal to a surface whose boundary line extends within the sealing surface, and specifically, preferably at a distance of 0.2 to 0.5-fold of the width of the sealing surface from the inner edge of the sealing surface.

  • Patent number: 4325584
Abstract: Mounted on the rotor 1 is a plate 10 which is connected to the rotor at a point 11 so as to be immovable in the direction of support but tiltable relative to the rotor 1. On one side, the plate 10 carries the sliding surface 4 for the mounting member 5 comprising the support surface 6 and, on its other side, the plate 10 forms the cross sectional surface 12 of a pressure cushion 13. The support surface 6 and the cross sectional surface 12 are located opposite each other and are substantially the same size. The pressure in the pressure cushion 13 and the pressure in the space between the sliding surface 4 and the support surface 6 are kept substantially the same as each other. As a result, the plate 10 and hence the sliding surface 4 remain flat even when deformation of the rotor occurs.

  • Patent number: 4310204
Abstract: Hydrostatic support apparatus for a movable part comprises a bearing plate and a support member which are movable relatively to each other and to a base and define a pressure chamber. The plate has a bearing surface containing a bearing pocket connected by a choke bore with the pressure chamber, is urged toward the movable part by pressure in that chamber, and is urged toward the support member by a spring. The support member is urged toward the movable part by a second spring or by a second spring and a hydraulic cylinder. The construction enables the bearing plate to be resiliently pressed toward the movable part during normal operation, but causes retraction of that plate upon a loss of pressure in the pressure chamber, to thereby prevent wear.

  • Patent number: 4282638
Abstract: A heated controlled deflection roll equipped with spraying devices arranged in the intermediate space or compartment between the stationary roll support and the roll shell. The spraying devices have walls confronting the inner surface of the roll shell and at which walls there are formed openings which, during operation, form liquid jets. Oil which is infed to the spraying devices can be heated in a collecting container and/or in a tubular conduit. Temperature regulation of the roll shell can also be accomplished by a throughflow or quantitative regulation by means of valves. If there are present a number of temperature zones in the lengthwise direction of the roll shell then different spray devices can be operatively associated with partition walls, from which the liquid is infed to separate collecting containers. From these collecting containers the liquid is again infed, by means of separate pressure lines, to the individual spray devices.

Abstract: Hydrostatic supporting apparatus which supports, without physical contact, a mobile part which moves relatively to a load-bearing part. The apparatus comprises a supporting piston which has at least one hydrostatic bearing pocket which provides a pressure cushion through which the mobile part is supported, and which is urged toward the mobile part by a controlled pressure which increases and decreases, respectively, as the piston moves toward and away from the load-bearing part. Preferably, pressure control is effected by a throttle valve interposed either in a supply path leading from a source of pressure medium to the pressure chamber of a hydraulic supporting motor, or in a feed passage leading from that pressure chamber to the bearing pocket.
