  • Patent number: 5782586
Abstract: A spindle unit for machine tools, with a working spindle that is provided to accommodate a tool and is mounted so it can rotate in a housing and is driven by a motor, and with a chucking unit with an operating device and an internal coolant supply to the tool. A short and compact spindle unit is created according to this invention by the fact that the internal coolant supply is integrated into the chucking unit and has a rotary transmission lead-through mounted inside the operating device to convey the coolant from a stationary supply line into the chucking unit.

  • Patent number: 5738782
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning fluids, especially cooling lubricants of machine tools. The apparatus includes a tank having a partition subdividing it into a sedimentation chamber and a clean chamber and having an inlet for the contaminated cooling lubricant and a discharge device for the cleaned cooling lubricant. A filter is mounted between the sedimentation chamber and the clean chamber and a conveyor device is mounted in the sedimentation chamber for removing sedimented particles from the tank. An environmentally safe and low-maintenance cleaning apparatus according to this invention is created by the fact that the sedimentation chamber is subdivided by a partition into an inlet area and a preliminary cleaning area that are connected to each other by a passage in the lower area of the partition. The filter is an edge filter mounted in the partition between the preliminary cleaning area and the clean chamber.

  • Patent number: 5560415
Abstract: A protective panel for the work area of a machine tool, consisting of a plurality of segments which are movably interconnected by connection elements. The segments are formed as frames which are nested into each other and shiftable with respect to each other by means of connection elements, the maximum displacement path of the single frame being smaller than the bridge width of the nearest greater size frame.

  • Patent number: 5533846
Abstract: A universal milling and drilling machine provided with a swivel milling head for an automatic reset from horizontal to vertical machining. The driving of the work spindle is carried out by a driving motor via bevel gears and a shift transmission which ensures a high torque even in a low rotation speed range. For optimizing the power transmission between the driving motor and the work spindle, the shift transmission is arranged in the swivel milling head, and the bevel gear transmission is seated directly on the motor shaft of the driving motor. The swivel milling head is mounted on the front surface of a support housing, the front surface being downwardly inclined by 45.degree..

  • Patent number: 5531005
Abstract: A device for positioning a pallet on a work table. The device consists of a vertically movable pallet carrier for transport and for raising and lowering a pallet that is provided with clamping elements on the lower side and at least one clamping device that is provided in the work table. The clamping device can be actuated by vertical movements of the pallet carrier. It has at least one wedge-type valve for clamping a clamping element on the pallet that has been deposited. The clamping device also has at least one control element that can be operated by the pallet carrier for releasing the clamp against the force of the springs, where the control element is mounted directly on one of the wedge-type valves.

  • Patent number: 5267766
Abstract: A tool gripper to remove a tool from and position the tool in a work spindle or a tool magazine, respectively, includes two tong-like gripper arms, a support attached to a tool changer on which the two gripper arms are mutually movably mounted, and an operating device to open and close the two gripper arms. To achieve a simple construction with only a few individual parts, and to avoid technically complicated hydraulic or pneumatic driving mechanisms, according to the invention a first spring is disposed between the two gripper arms to provide a closing force. Further, the support having a bore therein, is motor-driven and movably arranged on a column. A pin inserted in the bore, which is axially parallel to the column, may be shifted against a second spring, and a locking member laterally attached to the bore engages between the rear legs of the two gripper arms.

  • Patent number: 4593918
Abstract: A sealing arrangement for a ball-shaped or planar rotary valve of an internal combustion engine comprises a hollow sealing body mounted for rotation in a gas channel of the cylinder head and sealingly engaging the outside sealing surface of the rotary valve. A backside surface of the sealing body turned away from the combustion chamber is permanently exposed to the gas pressure therein in order to urge the sealing body inwards against the rotary valve with a sealing force dependent on the momentary gas pressure.
