  • Patent number: 7195054
Abstract: The reliable sealing of a gap (10), between a roller front face (7) and a side seal (3) on a roller-strip-casting machine is achieved by the generation of an electrical eddy field in the region of the gap (10), such as to produce a local gradient field (13). The eddy currents generated in the metal melt for casting prevent the ingress of the metal into the gap (10) or eject the metal from the gap (10). The risk of escape of liquid metal is essentially eliminated and the formation of ridges on the narrow edge of the metal strip avoided.

  • Publication number: 20060155592
Abstract: To take stock or monitor the inventory of stored objects or merchandise, a storage place or an optically scannable identifier, by which the object or the piece of merchandise can be identified, are assigned to a stored object or piece of merchandise. An electronic image is recorded at a given moment in time to determine whether the storage place is occupied or scan the identifier. A signal characterizing the recorded electronic image is transmitted to an evaluation unit via a mobile communication interface. A stock indicator that is assigned to the storage place or the identifier is adjusted by the evaluation unit based on the transmitted signal.

  • Patent number: 6923245
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing a metal strip, whereby molten is continuously poured between two casting rolls (1, 2) of a strip casting machine with rolls. Above the molten bath (4) and respectively proximate to the molten bath (5) casting rolls (1, 2) transition surface a rotating magnetic field is produced which generates, in the molten metal, local turbulent flows, so that a surface current is formed in said molten metal, which surface current is directed by the casting rolls (1, 2) towards the central plane (E) of the molten bath (4), that is towards the plane for output of the metal strip (8), thereby enabling to largely prevent supernatant impurities at the surface of the molten bath and oxides located on the surface of the rolls from being deposited, and the molten metal particles from being prematurely solidified.

  • Patent number: 5562074
Abstract: A piston for an internal-combustion engine has two webs respectively between the piston shaft and the pin eyes displaced toward the inside thereof. In order to achieve sufficient stability and rigidity, as well as a low-wear moldability one of the webs between the pin eye and the shaft wall is displaced toward the outside. Misarrangement also provides good accessibility for splash oil cooling.

  • Patent number: 5386808
Abstract: A camshaft drive for an internal-combustion engine with a V-shaped cylinder arrangement has two output wheels on the crankshaft, one of each respectively being assigned to a cylinder bank. The distance of the output wheels corresponds to an offset of the cylinder banks with respect to one another and permits the use of identical parts.

  • Patent number: 4851180
Abstract: A magnetic coil arrangement for fusion reactors, wherein toroidal field coils and poloidal field coils are combined, the current paths of the toroidal field coils being led helically around the central axis of the fusion reactor at an angle of contact adapted to the requirements in each case. The current paths of the toroidal coils in this way generate at the same time a poloidal field. This achieves an energy saving with the same reactor parameters. Furthermore, the coil system can be supplemented with additional integrated or independent toroidal and poloidal field coils.

  • Patent number: 4333228
Abstract: A method for producing a super-conductive coil and a coil produced in accordance with the method, wherein the coil is formed of a coil conductor containing a carrier consisting of a stabilizing material and a U-shaped steel sheath. In the carrier, a main duct is arranged in which at least one super-conductor wire or one super-conductor cable is embedded by means of a joining material. The super-conductor wire or the super-conductor cable is introduced into the main duct. Thereafter, the carrier is formed into the form of a coil and then the main duct with the super-conductor wire or the super-conductor cable is filled with the thermally and electrically conductive joining material.
