Patent number: 5992118Abstract: A segment for lining cavities, in particular tunnels, includes a substantially shell-shaped body bounded by an inner face, an outer face and side faces, with at least one opening in a side face for the purpose of receiving a dowel. The opening being configured as a substantially cylindrical bore into which projects a tube of limited deformability. A gap being provided between the outer circumference of the tube and the wall of the bore.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: GIT Tunnelbau GmbHInventors: Harald Wagner, Alfred Schulter

Patent number: 5346332Abstract: A tubbing-type tunnel lining, which comprises a plurality of tubbing rings, each of which consists of an even number of tubbing blocks, which are similar or identical and have a trapezium-shaped or trapezoidal or diamond basic shape and are so arranged that the joints between adjacent rings are defined by the end faces of said blocks and are connected together by plug-connections, which permit a restricted transmission of shear forces, and in each ring are connected at inclined longitudinal gaps by key-groove connections consisting of continuous longitudinal grooves in inclined longitudinal side faces and keys inserted therein.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: Ingenieure Mayreder, Kraus & Co. Consult Gesellschaft m.b.H.Inventors: Harald Wagner, Alfred Schulter

Patent number: 5332334Abstract: A tunnel wall with a lining is comprised of substantially trapeze- or trapezoid-shaped tubbing stones (8-13), which are at least similar and complement each other in an even number to form a respective tubbing ring (7), the tubbing stones being held together at their end faces (14, 15) defining the annular gap after mounting by dowel-like plug connections permitting a limited transfer of shearing forces and along the oblique longitudinal gaps (16) by groove-spring connections consisting of springs (18) inserted into longitudinal grooves (17) extending along the oblique longitudinal sides.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1993Date of Patent: July 26, 1994Assignee: Ingenieure Mayreder, Kraus & Co. Consult Gesellschaft m.b.H.Inventors: Harald Wagner, Alfred Schulter

Patent number: 5324139Abstract: A new combination of means and method steps is used in a method of constructing long tunnels with a lining, wherein excavation is effected with a tunnel boring machine (1) with a yielding shield mantle (4), building is effected continuously under the protection of the shield tail in a modular construction with tubbing stones of a special form complementing each other to form tubbing rings (15) while, until a new equilibrium of the rock formation is reached, occurring deformation forces are absorbed by the shield tail (4) and the tubbing rings which are yieldingly constructed to a limited degree, an outer seal of the tubes is provided and the gap between the excavation (2) and the tunnel tubes is filled with a material (22) which may be yielding to a limited extent to absorb long-time deformation forces. A tunnel construction made by the method, special forms of tubbing stones and new embodiments of drive means for the tunnel are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1993Date of Patent: June 28, 1994Assignees: Ingenieure Mayreder, Kraus & Co. Patent number: 5232302Abstract: Fixing devices for connecting components, particularly prefabricated concrete members and tubbing stones, consist of pluglike anchors adapted to be forced with elastic deformation into anchor holes, which are formed in the components and are open to the joint between the components. As a result, the anchors are frictionally held in and/or positively locked in the anchor holes. The anchors are substantially stiff and have a peripheral surface which at least in portions intended for a retaining engagement with the inside surface of the anchor hole is designed to be elastically deformable at least in an approximately radial direction. The surface consists at least in these portions of a plastic material which has entropy elasticity.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1991Date of Patent: August 3, 1993Assignee: Mayreder Consult of the United States Inc.Inventors: Harald Wagner, Alfred Schulter, Siegfried Strohhausl

Patent number: 5199817Abstract: In the provision of elongate underground cavities having a large volume are to be provided, particularly in the construction of underground railroad stations having at least two stories, it is desired to avoid a need for excavating an open pit and to minimize the handling of material. This is accomplished in that the cavity is excavated and lined in a two consecutive stages. In the first stage, two laterally spaced apart galleries are driven in the longitudinal direction of the cavity by a mining technique in the region of a top segment of the desired cavity and are formed each with an outer side face, which constitutes a portion of a side face of said top segment. Only one of said galleries is driven at any given time in any given cross-section of said top segment. Each of said galleries is provided on said outer side face with a supporting permanent first lining. The ground between said two galleries is removed to complete the excavation of said top segment.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1992Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Assignee: Mayreder Consult of the United States, Inc.Inventors: Harald Wagner, Alfred Schulter

Patent number: 4812084Abstract: A tubbing ring for lining a tunnel comprises end faces lying in respective planes, which preferably include an acute angle with each other. The tubbing ring comprises an even number of tubbing blocks, which have abutting longitudinal side faces that have such an inclination to a line which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ring that the tubbing blocks constitute ring segments which are substantially trapezoidal in a view on a diametral plane.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1987Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: Ingenieure Mayreder, Kraus & Co. Patent number: 4305683Abstract: A hollow tube element of a predetermined maximal width and defining a predetermined axis adapted to be secured to an adjoining hollow element defines a prearranged axis for use as building blocks for the construction of a tunnel; either element is rotatable about its axis by an arbitrary angle relative to the other. The hollow tube element includes a plurality of interconnected slabs; the locus of intersection of an imaginary first plane tangential to a first exterior portion of the hollow tube element with an imaginary second plane, and tangential to a second exterior portion of said hollow tube element disposed opposite the first portion, both plates having the predetermined width, is an imaginary annular surface having a predetermined outer diameter when either element is rotated 360.degree. about its axis relative to the other. The outer diameter is finite when the planes are converging at a finite distance from the element, and otherwise infinite.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1979Date of Patent: December 15, 1981Inventors: Harald Wagner, Friedrich K. Blindow, Heinz Distelmeier, Alfred Schulter
