  • Patent number: 4787565
Abstract: A method and assembly are for forming a thread reserve when winding a thread onto spool tube in a thread winding apparatus having a spool pin, a pressure roller and reverse thread roller device. The spool tube is carried by the spool pin and rotatably driven by a motor. The spool tube is capable of being swung in a direction toward the pressure roller. The spool tube has a smooth peripheral surface at least in the area of the thread reserve winding. A thread blocking device is disposed at an entry end of the pressure roller and holds back the thread from being introduced to the reverse thread roller device until the thread reserve winding has been wound onto the spool tube. A thread directing mechanism moves an incoming thread back-and-forth over a length of the spool tube defining the breadth of the thread reserve winding being formed. The thread directing mechanism is located ahead of the spool tube when viewing the assembly in the direction of the course of the thread through the thread winding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4484713
Abstract: The thread reeling apparatus includes a rotary cam drum with a traversing thread guide assembly used to guide a thread from a delivery mechanism to a bobbin or thread package. A roller having a smooth, peripheral surface is interposed at a location downstream of the rotary cam drum along which the traversing thread guide assembly moves back and forth. A further traversing thread guide assembly located downstream of the smooth roller receives the thread from the smooth roller and transfers the same on to a bobbin or thread package driven by a friction roller. The disposition of the smooth roller and further traversing thread guide assembly controls the tension of the thread along the thread path.

  • Patent number: 4228965
Abstract: The assembly for winding yarn on a thread package comprises electrically operated friction drive means and electrically operated axial drive means. The mandrel tube which carries the bobbin tube and the thread package is frictionally driven. The mandrel itself is axially driven by the electrically operated axial drive means. The friction drive and the axial drive are effective to operate in tandem. The friction drive comprises a synchronous motor. The axial drive includes a three-phase a.c. motor, a reluctance motor, or a d.c. motor.

  • Patent number: 4136834
Abstract: The method and assembly of the invention is used to insert threads, yarns and the like into a winding device having an open-ended slot and a plurality of traversing devices disposed along the slot. Each traversing device includes a reverse thread roller mounted in a casing. The winding device includes means for supporting a spool adjacent each traversing device and each spool has a catch slot therein for starting the winding of the thread package. The method comprises the steps of guiding a plurality of threads equal to the number of spools being wound to one end and in front of the winding device. The threads are guided in common as a bundle, yet are separate from one another. The threads are then moved from one end of the winding device into a spacing apart with respect to each other corresponding to the line of the spools through the insertion slot of the winding device. Then, the spaced apart threads are simultaneously inserted into the catch slots of the spools.

  • Patent number: 4094471
Abstract: A device feeds thread into a winding and traversing mechanism of a winding machine. The thread is fed to a spool via a traversing device having a thread guide and a reverse thread roller. The start of the thread is fed to an entrainment means via a slot that is open at one end in the winding machine. The device is a combination which comprises a traversing device housing rotatably mounted on the winding machine and a mechanism for effecting rotatable adjustment of the housing about a longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 3960336
Abstract: An apparatus forms a dead, short or waste winding adjacent a reserve winding when winding a thread onto a spool or the like. A delivery mechanism provides a supply of thread to a spool core at an end location axially displaced from the winding area of the spool. A winding forming means is located at the end location of the spool core. The winding forming means includes a rotatably mounted worm having a particular type of circumferential groove configuration disposed therealong. A predetermined number of narrow circumferential grooves having a relatively small pitch extend from the inlet side of the worm toward the outlet side thereof. Immediately thereafter, at least one further circumferential groove having a larger pitch than the grooves disposed toward the inlet side of the worm extends from the end of the small pitch circumferential grooves to the outlet side of the worm.
