  • Publication number: 20150025412
Abstract: An allergy skin test kit includes a template having puncture site indicators and a computer-readable storage medium storing allergy test information that associates the puncture site indicators of the template with template locations or test substance indicators. A method of performing an allergy skin test includes providing a template having puncture site indicators. Allergy test information that associates the puncture site indicators of the template with template locations or test substances identifiers is obtained. Image data corresponding to a test area on the skin of a test subject obtained and image regions corresponding to the puncture site indicators of the template are identified. Test results corresponding to the image regions are determined based, at least in part, on the allergy test information.

  • Patent number: 5743256
Abstract: An adhesive nostril patch that is precision cut and punched to provide a central opening, and to provide edge margins configured to approximate the configuration of the margins of the nostril opening for adherence thereto in fluid tight relation, in combination with a length of tubing having one end diagonally cut to facilitate forcible insertion of the tubing into the central opening of the patch, and having the opposite end flanged to engage the adhesive side of the patch, whereby air from the nostril is constrained to flow into the tubing for measurement of its pressure by external pressure measurement equipment.

  • Patent number: 4800896
Abstract: An elongated plastic sample collector probe for cell sampling, particularly including mucosal cells. The probe has a generally rigid rearward handle portion, a forwardly narrowing tapered shank portion, and a small sample collector cup at the forward tip of the shank portion. The plastic material of which the probe is made has the physical characteristics of flexibility and elasticity, and these characteristics cooperate with the forwardly narrowing taper to provide the probe with a progressively increasing transverse flexibility toward the collector cup. Such flexibility, together with the configuration and orientation of the cup relative to the shank portion, facilitates cell sample collection through use of a light, whisking stroke, which minimizes the likelihood of injury to sensitive tissues.

  • Patent number: 4576168
Abstract: A nasal dilator compatible with conventional illuminating devices whereby the nasal passage may be symmetrically dilated allowing for even illumination for inspection of the nasal cavity or the insertion of a specimen collection probe. Two symmetrical lever arms are spring-urged together and connected to a common base by a pair of wing-like arc springs. Compression of these springs by an inward force on the proximal ends of the lever arms urges their distal ends apart expanding the nasal passage by means of two symmetrically projecting dilating members.
