Abstract: This is a door lock arrangement which is operated by a slide on a vehicle door, which slide is the actuator of a seat belt system for a seat next to the door. As the door is closed, the slide moves along the door to operate this door lock as well as to put the seat belt system in its operating position restraining a person who is sitting on this seat. The door lock includes a socketed keeper mounted on a door post behind the door, a holder mounted on the door, a lock bolt slidable in this holder and engageable in the socket of the keeper, and a spring biasing the lock bolt out of engagement with the keeper and into the path of movement of the slide as the door is closing.

Abstract: This is a seat belt system for a motor vehicle which has a belt retractor behind the inboard rear corner of the seat, a belt guide next to the inboard side of the head rest, a slip ring on a slide in an upwardly and forwardly inclined guideway in the vehicle door next to that seat, and an anchor next to the inboard side of the seat in front of the belt retractor. The seat belt extends up from the retractor behind the back rest of the seat, slidable through the belt guide at the inboard side of the head rest, downward and laterally outward diagonally across the front of the back rest from the guide to the slide on the door, and slidably through the slip ring on that slide back across the seat to the anchor.

Abstract: A hip prosthesis comprising a hollow intramedullary stem with a tapered, closed inner end for insertion along the medulla of the femur, a brace segment on the outer end of the stem for engaging the stump of the femoral neck, a spherical ball on the brace segment, and a lag screw for slidable insertion through a passage in the brace segment into the screw-threaded interior of the stem. The stem has longitudinal slots through which the screw teeth of the lag screw project to engage cancellous bone.

Abstract: A dissector device to be incorporated into the anvil-jaw of a ligation and division stapler to facilitate its use. Such device is inserted with ease through a relatively small opening in the neighboring tissues of the blood vessels to be ligated and divided. By using the dissector device the surgical operation is easier, faster and safer than when using the prior art ligation and division stapler.

Abstract: A surgical stapler for forming and implanting surgical staples in the skin or fascia of a patient to close a wound or incision is provided and comprises a member having a rearward portion including a handle portion and a forward portion having a front surface facing the incision, and a guide disposed at the forward-most end of the forward portion which guide is inserted beneath the surface of the skin or fascia and plows through the incision to be stapled.

Abstract: A carton for containing a sterilized surgical glove pair is provided with four collapsible flaps. The flaps are raised by pulling on pull tabs. After the glove pair is removed, the flaps remain upright. The empty carton thus serves as a trash receptacle during the operating procedure.

Abstract: Anastomosis of hollow viscera is effected interlumenally by a surgical stapler. The stapler includes an ovoid-shaped staple head and an ovoid-shaped anvil which are mounted on the distal ends of an open ring support structure, the major part of which extends between the head and the anvil externally of the viscera. The staple head includes an ovoid-shaped tensor ring, an ovoid-shaped cutting blade and double ovoid-shaped rows of staple drivers. Closing of the instrument's handle grips moves the stapler head toward the anvil whereby the tissue between the head and the anvil is tensioned and stapled and the area within the rows of staples is cut away by the cutting blade.
