  • Patent number: 9004544
Abstract: A threaded joint comprises a coupling, a first pin, and a second pin, wherein the thread of the first pin has a pitch different from the pitch of the thread of the second pin. The extremities of the pins have slanted contact surfaces of complementary shape that make mutual contact after make-up of the joint. The slanted common plane of contact of both pins has an angle to the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the joint which is greater than 0°. In an alternative embodiment the contact surfaces of the pins are split into two staggered planes and comprise a seal in-between.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 2010
Date of Patent: April 14, 2015
    Assignee: Tenaris Connections Limited
Inventors: Gabriel E. Carcagno, Alfredo Francisco Quiroga
  • Patent number: 8262140
Abstract: A threaded joint includes a first seal ring having a tapered shape in a cross section on an axial plane, this ring having an L-shaped metal reinforcement ring embedded in it. The threaded joint can also include a second seal ring positioned more internal to the first seal ring and located in a housing between the end of a threaded section and the nose of the box. The second seal ring has a first base, a second base axially opposite to the first base, and protruding annular ribs either on the external surface or on an internal surface.
