  • Publication number: 20040166207
Abstract: A food kit for the components or ingredients of a ready-to-make, chilled or frozen dessert. The kit preferably includes a plurality of compartments for the ingredients with one of the compartments being filled with a dessert component such as ice cream, yogurt or pudding. The second compartment is filled with a component such as cookies or wafers and the third with a topping component such as fudge, syrup, or bits of candy. In use, the consumer may create a dessert with any number of combinations of the components.

  • Patent number: 6663374
Abstract: An apparatus for forming an extruded ice cream bar with variegated inclusions. The apparatus includes a main die having a section with sidewalls extending between upper and lower end portions and defining a cavity. In the preferred embodiment, a plurality of intermediate dies for insertion of the inclusions are positioned within the cavity and spaced from the sidewalls of the main die. The intermediate dies gradually and progressively change in cross-sectional shape from being round at the top to the desired shape of the inclusion at the bottom. As the ice cream flows through the cavity of the main die, it passes along and about the intermediate dies through which the inclusions are flowing. Each intermediate die is preferably fed by two tubes so that the final shape of the inclusion at the bottom of the intermediate die is fully and evenly filed.

  • Patent number: 5686128
Abstract: The triple coextrusion of snack food products having highly uniform and integral individual layers is achieved by the use of a compact, precisely toleranced coextrusion die which may be mounted at the outlet end of a cooker extruder. The coextrusion die includes a die block with smooth, unobstructed flow passages for each material. The outer passages for the casing material are substantially coaxial with the central axis of the die block and extend from end to end. A central bore and an annular passage having their central axes aligned with the central axis of the die block at its outlet end extend upstream to filler feed ports. The feed port entrances are at the outer surface of the die block between its ends. The side ports and filler feed lines connected to them do not interfere with a substantially straight flow path of casing material directly from a cooker extruder. A protruding tip formed at the outlet end of the die block by the bore and annular passage extends into a converging block or cone.

  • Patent number: 5049264
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention a process and apparatus for removing contaminates from edible cooking oil is provided. A continuous stream of cooking oil at an elevated temperature is withdrawn from a cooking bath. A continuous stream of liquid solvent for at least a portion of the contaminates is mixed with the oil. The solvent has a specific gravity different than the specific gravity of the oil. As the oil and solvent streams are mixed, at least a portion of the contaminates are transferred from the oil to the solvent. The oil and solvent mixture is then separated by specific gravity into a stream comprising cleaned oil and a stream comprising solvent and contaminates. The cleaned oil stream is then returned to the bath, preferably being heated in a heat exchanger prior to introduction in the bath.
