  • Patent number: 10975211
Abstract: Disclosed is a composition and process for making a water blown semi-rigid polyurethane foam wherein the polyisocyanate side and the polyol side are combined under ambient temperature conditions. Said foams are particularly suited for sound and vibration management, especially in motor vehicles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 2017
Date of Patent: April 13, 2021
    Assignee: Dow Global Technologies LLC

  • Publication number: 20130241098
Abstract: Plasticized polyisocyanate compositions contain (a) an isocyanate terminated reaction product of a polymeric MDI with a difunctional poly(propylene oxide) homopolymer or difunctional copolymer of at least 85% by weight propylene oxide and up to 15% by weight ethylene oxide, which homopolymer or copolymer has a molecular weight of from about 400 to 2200 and (b) at least one alkyl ester of one or more fatty acids, the polyisocyanate composition having an isocyanate content of from about 8 to about 14% by weight and a Brookfield viscosity of no greater than 5000 cps at 25° C. The plasticized prepolymers are particularly useful in foam formulations for insulating cavities in automotive parts and thermal insulating panels such as the walls of buildings or appliances.

  • Patent number: 6803390
Abstract: Polyurethane foams are made using a prepolymer that is the reaction product of an organic polyisocyanate, a hydroxy-functional acrylate or methacrylate, and a polyol. This prepolymer is reacted at specified volume ratios and isocyanate indices with a polyol component that includes at least one polyol. The foam is made in the presence of a blowing agent and catalyst. Preferred blowing agents are water and chemical blowing agents that generate carbon dioxide in the reaction. Preferred catalysts have primary or secondary amine groups that allow them to react into the resulting polymer structure, thus decreasing the level of volatile components.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 2002
Date of Patent: October 12, 2004
    Assignee: Dow Global Technologies Inc.
