Publication number: 20240057062Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing power consumption in neighbor awareness networking (NAN) devices. Some implementations more specifically relate to dynamically adjusting a NAN device link (NDL) schedule to reduce the idle duration of a NAN data interface (NDI). The NDL schedule identifies a number of NAN slots, per discovery window (DW) interval, during which an NDL is available for data communications between NAN devices. In some aspects, a NAN device may measure congestion on the wireless channel during each NAN slot within a DW interval and may dynamically update the NDL schedule based on the measured congestion. In some other aspects, a NAN device may measure throughput on the NDL during each NAN slot within a DW interval and may dynamically update the NDL schedule based on the measured throughput.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2022Publication date: February 15, 2024Inventors: Sandip HOMCHAUDHURI, Sudhanshu SINGH, Kenneth Marvin GAINEY, Alireza RAISSINIA

Publication number: 20240048205Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for radio frequency (RF) sensing in wireless communication systems. In some implementations, a transmitter device transmits sounding sequences configured for channel estimation over a wireless channel to a receiver device. The transmitter device also transmits or receives non-sounding frames associated with a channel report of the receiver device. The transmitter device transmits a frame soliciting the channel report from the receiver device. The transmitter device receives the channel report, which may include channel state information (CSI) of the wireless channel responsive to at least the sounding sequences. Some types of channel reports may take longer to generate than other types of channel reports. Transmitting or receiving the non-sounding frames during the time period may prevent other devices from accessing the wireless channel when the receiver device needs additional time to generate a certain type of channel report.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Inventors: Simone MERLIN, Alireza RAISSINIA, Bin TIAN, Xiaoxin ZHANG, Solomon TRAININ, Assaf Yaakov KASHER, Manish MADAN, John GRESZCZUK

Patent number: 11894964Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for generating a secure long training field (LTF). In some implementations, the secure LTF may include a randomized bit sequence that is difficult, if not impossible, to replicate by any device other than the transmitting device and the intended receiving device. For example, the transmitting device may use a block cipher or stream cipher to generate a pseudorandom bit sequence and may select a subset of bits of the pseudorandom bit sequence to be mapped to a sequence of modulation symbols representing an LTF symbol of the secure LTF. More specifically, each of the modulation symbols is mapped to a respective one of a number of subcarriers spanning a bandwidth of the secure LTF. The transmitting device may further transmit a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) that includes the secure LTF to the receiving device.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2022Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Stephen Jay Shellhammer, Bin Tian, Alireza Raissinia, Youhan Kim

Publication number: 20240040405Abstract: Wireless offloading provides tools to a service provider to encourage or direct a subscriber to offload from a first network, e.g., a cellular network, to a second network, e.g., a Wi-Fi network. The cellular service provider can use network data to determine wireless offloading priorities for cellular subscribers on an individual or group basis. The cellular service provider may use wireless network data it has and/or wireless network data it learns about networks from the wireless devices (which may obtain Wi-Fi network data from beacon frames of Wi-Fi networks or active scanning and which may report to the cellular service provider). Each wireless device can be given scanning assignments to ensure that the reporting task is shared among subscribers or adjusted to fill in gaps in data. With the network data, the cellular service provider is capable of generating useful prioritized network lists for wireless devices, either individually or as a group.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2023Publication date: February 1, 2024Applicant: Headwater Research LLC.Inventors: Gregory G. Patent number: 11888593Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A station (STA) may receive a null data packet (NDP) on a plurality of subcarriers, and the STA may generate a channel state information (CSI) matrix for each subcarrier of the plurality of subcarriers. After generating a CSI matrix for a subcarrier, such as at least one subcarrier, the STA may scale each value in the CSI matrix using a power-of-two value to minimize complexity. Specifically, instead of scaling each value in the CSI matrix to a value between zero and one using divisions (for example, which may be computationally expensive), the STA may use shifting to scale each value in the CSI matrix. The STA may then quantize the scaled values in the CSI matrix for reporting, and the STA may transmit the quantized, scaled values in the CSI matrix in a CSI report.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2021Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Stephen Jay Shellhammer, Bin Tian, Alireza Raissinia, Simone Merlin

Publication number: 20230413208Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for performing a single-sided ranging operation. In some implementations, a first device transmits a first frame to a wireless station (STA), and receives a second frame from the STA responsive to the first frame. Publication number: 20230362822Abstract: Aspects relate to signaling the parameters to be used for a communication schedule such as a target wake time (TWT) schedule. For example, a first wireless communication device (e.g., an access point or a peer station) may determine (e.g., specify or negotiate) the parameters for at least one TWT schedule and transmit a broadcast management frame (e.g., a beacon) that includes these parameters. Publication number: 20230337025Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some aspects, two devices may support signaling and messaging designs that support bandwidths that are greater than 160 MHz for ranging null data packets (NDPs). For example, various signaling and messaging designs may support a use of a 320 MHz bandwidth for ranging NDPs as part of a ranging measurement procedure, which may offer greater resolution than narrower bandwidths. The signaling and messaging designs may include one or more updates for a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame, for a trigger frame, for session negation messages (such as one or both of an initial fine timing measurement (IFTM) frame and an IFTM request (IFTMR) frame), for segmentation techniques for ranging NDPs, or for any combination thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2022Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Yanjun Sun, Alireza Raissinia, Stephen Jay Shellhammer, Xiaoxin Zhang, George Cherian, Alfred Asterjadhi, Abhishek Pramod Patil

Publication number: 20230319691Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for performing passive scanning operations on one or more wireless channels. In some implementations, a wireless communication device configures an off-channel scan time and a passive scanning period for passive scanning operations based on latency requirements of a low-latency application, and selects a home channel dwell time for the passive scanning operations. The wireless communication device may perform the passive scanning operation by alternating between listening for beacon frames on one or more second wireless channels for the configured off-channel scan time and dwelling on a home channel for the selected home channel dwell time during a first portion of the configured scanning period. The wireless communication device also may listen for beacon frames on the one or more second wireless channels during a second portion of the configured scanning period that is defined by the selected home channel dwell time.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2021Publication date: October 5, 2023Inventors: Sandip HOMCHAUDHURI, Alireza RAISSINIA, Javier DEL PRADO PAVON, Shuibing DAI, Zhao LI, Vikram PHOGAT, Prasanna BASARALU SUBRAMANYA
