  • Patent number: 6471629
Abstract: An apparatus for the formation of packaging from unitary blanks comprising a first tool having a convex end surface said convex end surface having edges that define a first center segment and a first plurality of triangular segments and a second tool having a concave end surface said concave end surface having edges that define a second center segment and a second plurality of triangular segments.

  • Patent number: 5431304
Abstract: A dispenser for single or limited use wedge shaped packages is disclosed having a pair of press surfaces between which the package is positioned. The product is dispensed from the package by opening the package and compressing the package between the two press surfaces causing the product to be discharged from the package.

  • Patent number: 5313767
Abstract: A machine for and a step by step method of forming packages or containers from blanks, heat sealing the sides of the packages and depositing the packages in fixtures, retaining the packages in fixtures during dosing of the packages with product, heat sealing the tops of the packages and ejecting the packages from the fixtures. The sides of a newly formed package are heat sealed through apertures in the forming die before the package is placed in the fixture. Once placed in the fixture at the forming station, the package remains in the fixture during the filling or dosing of product at the filling station and as indexed into the top sealing station. At the top sealing station the filled package is partially elevated from the fixture to expose the entire top of the package for heat sealing.

  • Patent number: 5295523
Abstract: Package or container product filling apparatus that can easily be disassembled for cleaning and reassembled comprises a hopper and manifold to supply a plurality of package dosing filling tubes in turn insertable in multiple packages simultaneously. The manifold supplies a plurality of flexible tubes leading to a plurality of bellows type reciprocable dosing pumps. The dosing pumps in turn supply product through flexible tubes to the filling tubes. Any parts through which product passes or contacts are simply connected requiring no tools for disassembly or assembly. The bellows chambers and check valves of the dosing pumps are constructed of inexpensive plastic and discarded when the apparatus is disassembled for cleaning because they are relatively difficult to clean with absolute assurance that no product remains to contaminate a subsequent different product. The remaining mechanical portions of the dosing pumps do not contact the product.

  • Patent number: 5238157
Abstract: The new integral cap and container comprise an extended neck and enlarged head portion, the halves of which are formed as integral parts of the flat blank of container material. No additional steps are required to form, fill and cap the container beyond that of the container absent the cap. The neck and integral cap of the filled and sealed container are substantially flat. The new cap and container is opened by merely tearing off the cap and squeezing to dispense the contents. To reclose, the torn-off cap is merely slid over the substantially flat neck subsequent to release of the squeezing pressure on the container. The cap squeezes the neck together to provide a positive closure.

  • Patent number: 5230239
Abstract: A apparatus and method of testing packages containing fluid materials for failure and leakage. The apparatus includes a plurality of testing stations in which a control assembly causes a series of actuators to advance platens so as to apply a given force against the packages being tested. If one of the packages fails and leakage occurs, a sensor is triggered indicating that a particular package has failed. In response to the failure, the control assembly causes the actuator corresponding to the failed package to retract its platen so that the failed package can be inspected. The testing of the remaining packages continues without interruption.
