  • Patent number: 5515020
Abstract: A premagnetizing head for charging the magnetizable pigment of characters printed on a document includes a permanent magnet (10) whose one pole is connected to a magnetically conductive metal plate (12) which extends away from the magnet (10) in a direction generally transversal to the north-south pole axis of the magnet and up to the document (D) whose characters are to be magnetized and read. The permanent magnet (10) is oriented so that its northpole-southpole axis will extend generally parallel with the plane of the document (D) to be read.

  • Patent number: 5378886
Abstract: A drive device for a magnetic head (6) reciprocally movable in a slot (8) in a bank printer is suspended on a driving cogged belt (1), the cogged side of which at the same time serving as a covering for the slot to prevent the front edge of an inserted document from catching in the slot (8) in the document-supporting surface ( 7 ). The cogged belt can run with its smooth snide over smooth rollers (2, 3) at either end of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4372549
Abstract: A device and a method for dispensing articles in the form of sheets from a supply. In order to dispense the articles, for example banknotes, from a supply in the form of a stack of banknotes, the outermost banknote of the stack is first displaced in one direction so that the banknote is made to form a bulge after its resistance to buckling has been overcome, whereupon the banknote is displaced in the opposite direction for being fed out from the dispensing device. The banknote is displaced by means of a withdrawal roller of appropriate shape, wherein the peripheral surface of said roller for example may be concave or convex and/or may be provided with helical projections for affecting the resistance of the banknote to buckling. In consequence of said bulge being formed in the banknote the latter will be effectively separated from the immediately following banknote of the stack, said separation being facilitated additionally by the design of the withdrawal roller.

  • Patent number: 4318484
Abstract: A device for sorting out individual articles which differ from the main quantity in a consecutive feedout. Articles to be conveyed in response to specific conditions, for example monetary bills which are to be discharged individually and which are to face the same direction, are supplied to a nip between a pair of rollers, with the axes of said rollers being disposed in a plane forming an acute angle to the path of conveyance through the rollers. The articles are sensed individually after passing said rollers, and if the specific condition is not fulfilled the direction of rotation of the rollers is reversed, whereby the differing articles (bills) are returned towards the place where they originally entered the nip but are conveyed down below a shield which they have passed over in their previous conveyance. The rejected articles are collected after having passed below the shield.
