  • Patent number: 5691805
Abstract: A dual-mode photographic printer which can be used to make both two-dimensional and three-dimensional photographs of different sizes having a plurality of print material cassettes which separately supply 2D and 3D print material of different sizes or types of 2D print material or of 3D print material. An easel is transported to one of the cassettes to pick up a section of print material according to the printing mode and the magnification. The same easel moves the print material to different locations for 3D printing. A chemical processor is included in the printer so that photo-processing is part of the on-line printing process.

  • Patent number: 5680171
Abstract: The method and apparatus for making a composite image of a scene a large-aperture lens to form an image of the scene on a photographic film through a lenticular screen or a barrier strip. The recorded image on film is digitized into a digital image and conveyed to a computer workstation for processing. Assuming the image area in the recorded image under each lenticule is digitized into an image zone composed of N pixel rows in the digital image. To correct the pseudoscopic effect, the order of each group of N pixel rows in each image zone is electronically reversed. Also, the entire digital image is electronically reversed to become a normal composite image. The image reversal process (for the entire image) can also be effected optically by forming the scene image through a plane mirror. The composite image in digital form can be used to produce 3D display, video and hard-copies by presenting the composite image behind a lenticular screen or a barrier strip.

  • Patent number: 4120562
Abstract: An autostereoscopic picture is produced by taking a series of two-dimensional views of an object field and projecting them in an enlarger onto lenticular print film. Substantially uninterruputed and non-overlapping lineiform image bands of high image quality are formed on all areas of the lenticular film by scanning the projected images from each two-dimensional view over a predetermined distance along the photosensitive surface. A novel image structure of improved quality is thereby produced.

  • Patent number: 4101210
Abstract: In the illustrative embodiments of the invention disclosed, autostereoscopic pictures are produced by projecting a series of two-dimensional views of an object field onto a lenticular screen. Substantially uninterrupted and non-overlapping condensed, or lineiform, images of the two-dimensional views are formed beneath each lenticule of the lenticular screen by setting the number M of these images in the image band beneath each lenticule, and hence the total number of two-dimensional views projected, equal to w/m, where w is the lenticule width and m is the width of each condensed image. In order to project the required number M of two-dimensional views while avoiding gaps between adjacent condensed images, the projection lenses and the associated film frames are positioned along a plurality of adjacent, parallel, straight lines in a manner such that the apertures of the lenses are effectively in edge-to-edge contiguous relation.

  • Patent number: 4086585
Abstract: In the exemplary embodiments of the invention disclosed, a system especially adapted for producing stereoscopic pictures in general photography includes a camera having a plurality of lenses aligned in a row with the optical axes substantially in parallel and the endmost lenses spaced apart by a distance that is productive of a three-dimensional depth of field in the system which matches or exceeds the two-dimensional depth of field of the camera lenses at least under average photographic conditions. Such matching of the two and three-dimensional depths of field, where the limits of the two-dimensional depth of field are based on the lenticule width w of the stereoscopic picture, provide sharply focused, solid stereoscopic images of all objects within the two-dimensional capabilities of the camera lens.

  • Patent number: 4063265
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for aiding a photographer in determining, coordinating and adjusting numerous variables which bear on the quality of a stereoscopic picture employing a lenticular screen. The variables may include, depending upon the photographic method employed and the scene to be photographed, the desired size of the stereoscopic picture, the resolving power and lenticule width of the lenticular screen, the number and size of two-dimensional picture negatives which are taken and included in the stereoscopic picture, the distance between adjacent camera vantage points from which the negatives are taken, the camera focal length, the distance from the camera to the nearest element or object of the photographed scene, the distance from the camera to the farthest element or object of the scene, and the distance from the camera to an element or object - the "key subject matter" - in the scene which is to lie in the plane of the stereoscopic picture.

  • Patent number: 4059354
Abstract: An apparatus for composing stereoscopic photographs uses a two-stage optical enlarging system. The two-stage system enables one step composing of a stereoscopic photograph without spacial separation or movement of the two-dimensional views from which the photograph is composed.

  • Patent number: 3953869
Abstract: In the illustrative embodiments of the invention disclosed, autostereoscopic pictures are produced by taking a series of two-dimensional views of an object field and projecting them in an enlarger onto lenticular print film. Adjustable-focus and fixed-focus cameras are provided for taking the two-dimensional views, either simultaneously or sequentially, in a manner which automatically accounts for the effect of variation of the camera-to-object distance on the configuration of the enlarger-lenticular print film system, thereby allowing the parameters of the enlarger-print film system to be held constant. The number of enlarging lenses employed may correspond to the number of two-dimensional views to be projected, by virtue of which the stereoscopic picture may be composed in a single projection step, or a single enlarging lens may be used to project the two-dimensional views in sequence.
