  • Publication number: 20100124779
Abstract: Reaction containers, such as plastic capillaries having an optimized volume-to-surface ratio that are suitable for real-time nucleic acid amplification (rtPCR) applications are disclosed as well as a method for the production of the reaction containers, in particularly the trtPCR plastic capillaries via a 2-step molding process. In the process, a capillary section is closed at one end, a tubular section is provided opened at both ends, and a linkage is provided between the capillary section and the tubular section, wherein the linkage is a fused joint designed to permanently link the open end of the capillary section to one of the open ends of the tubular section thus forming a reaction container having one opening, and in which the fused joint produces light scatter upon illumination.

  • Patent number: 5670120
Abstract: A system for incubating sample liquids is proposed where the incubating vessels are placed into the bores of an incubator block with the aid of a rack. The rack has bores in which the incubating vessels are hanging. The bores of the rack and the ones in the incubator block are adjusted to one another so that the incubating vessels fit into the bores of the incubator block when the rack is placed onto the incubator block.

  • Patent number: 4706188
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing samples of a time-dependent signal (Se) in a data processing system which comprises an arithmetic unity (1), a control unit (2), a memory (3) and an address modification unit (13) wherein with a stored dataset of individual samples, for updating these step-by-step during every successive sampling period and respectively reading out the dated dataset and supplying it to the arithmetic unit (1), is achieved such that an address sequence which traverses a prescribed memory area is output via the address modification unit (13), so that a sequence of samples is written. Subsequently, the memory area is cyclically traversed with a plurality of address strings, whereby the stored samples are successively read out onto a bus line (4) and, when reaching an individual memory location within each of the address strings, the oldest sample stored there is overwritten by a further sample. The method is distinguished by a minimum of re-storing operations.

  • Patent number: 4679165
Abstract: A multiplication unit for n-place binary numbers has a first register containing the multiplicand, and accumulator, and an arithmetic unit having operand inputs connected to the first register and to the accumulator. The operation to be undertaken by the arithmetic unit is to find by the bits of a multiplier which is contained in a second register, the second register being connected to an operation instruction input of the arithmetic unit. A multiplexer having inputs connected to the outputs of the second register through-connects the bits of five adjacent multiplier places to the inputs of a logic circuit, which derives the operation instruction for the arithmetic unit. The logic circuit also supplies an instruction to a mulitple shift unit interconnected between the output of the arithmetic unit and the input of the accumulator.

  • Patent number: 4675837
Abstract: A digital arithmetic unit useful in data processing digital circuits comprises a plurality of stages each having two half-adders combined into a full adder and a carry logic element. An objective is to shorten the processing time for the addition and subtraction of binary numbers. For this purpose, the stages are divided into at least two groups and two separate carry paths are provided within each group. One of the carry paths is only switched on by means of selection logic elements. The activation occurs sequentially in group-wise fashion after simultaneous carry runs in all carry paths. The advantage particularly consists of the chronological coincidence of the carry runs in all groups.

  • Patent number: 4623872
Abstract: A circuit for coding a binary number represented in two's complement in a CSD-code wherein it is impossible for two immediately adjacent binary digits to respectively exhibit a "1". The circuit is simply constructed and has a high operating speed. This is achieved by means of a series of logic components which respectively evaluate according to an exclusive-OR function and which create an output bit -1 from two respectively adjacent binary digits of the number to be encoded upon appearance of the bit combination 1,0. A series of second logic components create a CSD-coded bit combination 0, 1 from two respectively adjacent first logic components having the output bits 1,-1, but which accept the output bits of the remaining first logic components into the CSD-coded bit combination in unaltered fashion. The circuit is used in signal processors.
