Abstract: A hand-held applicator (10) for self-administration of a semi-solid medicament comprises an applicator head (14) with one or more elongate dispensing nozzles (40) and an applicator body (12) for housing a medicament reservoir, such as a cartridge (20). The applicator has a pump assembly and an actuator (30) for pumping the medicament from the one or more of the dispensing nozzles. The applicator head and applicator body are fixed relative to each other in use such that movement of the nozzle or nozzles away from the scalp or other body area during actuation may be avoided. The applicator may further include an application face for spreading medicament over a body area thereby enabling dual functionality as a scalp and body applicator. A dispensing system in the form of a dispensing head and cartridge therefor is also described and characterised by venting features for improving priming of the dispenser. Such priming means are suitable for use in the applicators of the application.

Abstract: An applicator for topically applying a semi-solid medicament comprises an applicator head having an applicator face for spreading medicament across the skin; a sealable aperture on the applicator face; and a drive mechanism for forcing medicament out through the aperture. The applicator head includes a cartridge port at the rear of the applicator face for receiving a dispensing end of a cartridge charged with medicament. The drive mechanism comprises a dial knob rotatable around a longitudinal axis of the applicator for advancing a piston along a drive member towards the applicator head to force medicament from the cartridge and thereby dispense a predetermined dose of medicament onto the applicator face.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a transfer device for fluid communication between a first site and a second site comprising a housing, a fluid channel and typically a sleeve assembly. The housing has a first end being connectable to the first site, a second end being connectable to the second site and a longitudinal portion extending between the first and second ends and defining a longitudinal axis. The housing includes two oppositely arranged wings comprising engaging means for engagement with the first site. The fluid channel is provided in the housing for fluid communication between the first end and the second end of the housing. The optionally provided sleeve assembly is mounted to the housing and axially movable relative to and biased against the housing.

Abstract: An assembly for storing and dispensing an electrode device, of the kind that includes a sensor connected by a wire to a connector, includes a container for receiving the electrode device. The container defines a cavity having a dispensing aperture closed by a flexible cover. The cover is peelably attached to the container, and the sensor is releasably attached to an interior surface of the cover. The container advantageously includes a flange that extends outwardly from the cavity and that includes a groove that receives the wire. The cavity of the container advantageously contains a holder that receives the connector.

Abstract: A method of and system for buying or selling bras involves establishing a database of bras containing bra characteristic data including bra size and bra cup size measured from a sample of actual bras; measuring a wearer's breast and torso size to obtain wearer characteristic data; searching the database to find bra characteristic data within the database matching the wearer characteristic data; and listing for selection by the wearer any bras in the database whose characteristics match the wearer characteristic data. Apparatuses and methods for measuring breast characteristics and bra characteristics are also disclosed, the former involving application of a receptacle to the breast and the latter involving expansion of bladders within the cups of a bra, the aim in both cases being to establish volumetric data for the purposes of correlation using the database.

Abstract: A method for dispensing a fluent material to articles which receive the fluent material. The method comprises the steps of selectively dispensing fluent material to the articles through open ends of nipples of a first flexible bag positioned for dispensing fluent material to the articles by deforming the nipples to eject fluent material therefrom. The open ends of the nipples of the first flexible bag are sealed. A second flexible bag having nipples is positioned for dispensing fluent material from the nipples to the articles, and fluent material is selectively dispensed to the articles through open ends of the nipples of second flexible bag by deforming the nipples to eject fluent material therefrom.

Abstract: A flexible bag of the present invention is for use in dispensing a fluent material. The bag is formed of flexible material and shaped for substantially enclosing a volume for containing the fluent material. The bag comprises a body and plural nipples, each nipple being integral with the body, projecting outwardly from the body, and having an open outer end. The body and nipples are in fluid communication for movement of the fluent material from the body to the nipples. Plugs including a plug for each of the nipples resealably close the open ends of the nipples.

Abstract: A flow control for use with flexible bags to push fluent material from the bags by deformation of the bags comprises first, second, and third platens mounted on a frame for movement relative to each other. The first and second platens are adapted to receive portions a flexible bag therebetween, and the first and third platens are adapted to receive portions of a flexible bag therebetween. The first platen is movable between a first position in which the first and second platens and the first and third platens each define a first space for containing the bag portions and a second position in which the first and second platens and the first and third platens each define a second smaller space for containing the bag portions.

Abstract: The present invention encompasses a measuring tape for measuring the torso girth of a user, the tape comprising a separable fastening that, when fastened, creates a loop of tape that extends in use around the user's torso without support from the user's hands, a link co-operable with the tape allowing the circumference of the loop to be adjusted or varied when around the user's torso, and girth indicia co-operable with the link to indicate the circumference of the loop. The link maintains a securing tension on the loop to secure the loop around the torso but allows expansion of the loop when the user expands her torso during said measurement, and resists variation of the loop circumference when the fastening is unfastened after use. In this way, the circumference of the loop can be read by the user after use with reference to the girth indicia A method for measuring the torso girth of a user by means of the present invention is also contemplated.
