  • Patent number: 7258792
Abstract: The method of providing for a fluid treatment, that includes providing a treatment zone containing granular activated charcoal, and providing a stream of water containing nutrients, contaminant degrading microbes and dissolved oxygen, and introducing the stream to a treatment zone to effect adsorption of nutrients and microbes onto the granular activated charcoal, thereby to provide a contaminant treatment matrix, whereby contaminant in fluid flow through the matrix is reduced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 28, 2004
Date of Patent: August 21, 2007
    Assignee: Xyclonyx

  • Patent number: 6810546
Abstract: Internal combustion engine apparatus, comprising a cylinder having a bore, a cylinder head, and a piston reciprocable in a bore toward and away from the head, two and only two air intake ports in the head, and two valves movable to control the ports, one and only one exhaust port in the head, and a third valve movable to control the exhaust port, and first and second fuel injection ports in the head, the first located generally between one air injector port and exhaust port, and the second located generally between the other air injector port and exhaust port.

  • Patent number: 6502540
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine having multiple cylinders, each cylinder defining a cylinder wall, and having a cylinder head, there being a piston movable axially within each cylinder to define a combustion zone between the piston top and the cylinder head, each cylinder having intake porting, the combustion comprising a manifold for delivering air to said combustion zones, via the intake porting at each cylinder, the manifold including air induction ducts, which are configured with branching to deliver substantially the same quantity of gas to each said porting.

  • Patent number: 5334533
Abstract: A method of controlling hydrocarbon contamination at a zone of contaminant concentration that includes determining the locus of contamination; and dispersing into the locus a substance that reacts with the hydrocarbon to produce CO.sub.2 and water to thereby decontaminate the locus; the dispersing including concentrating the substance in a porous zone, and forcing fluid under pressure into and through that zone to entrain and carry the substance to the contamination locus.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 7, 1990
Date of Patent: August 2, 1994
Inventors: Dominic J. Colasito, Mery C. Robinson, Alvin J. Smith
  • Patent number: 5039415
Abstract: The method of treating hydrocarbon contaminated soil that includes forming the soil into a flowing particulate stream; forming an aqueous liquid mixture of water and treating substance that reacts with hydrocarbon to form CO.sub.2 and water; dispersing the liquid mixture into the particulate soil stream to wet the particulate; allowing the substance to react with the wetted soil particulate to thereby form CO.sub.2 and water, whereby the resultant soil is beneficially treated.

  • Patent number: 4363505
Abstract: A coupling to connect plastic pipe ends comprises:(a) a tubular coupling member consisting of plastic, and having a bore at its mid-portion, two counterbores respectively intersecting opposite ends of the member, and two annular step shoulders respectively between the counterbores and said bore,(b) plastic pipe ends inserted into the counterbores to extend proximate the step shoulders, the pipe ends adhesively joined to the counterbores,(c) threaded fasteners extending generally radially through the coupling member to intersect the counterbores, the fasteners having tapered threads and tips that penetrate radially into the pipe ends,(d) the fasteners having heads and there being seal means sealing off between the fasteners and the coupling member and pressurized therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4179375
Abstract: Apparatus for use in an aerated sewage disposal system to aerate sewage waste in a septic tank comprises:(a) means including ducting to effect flow of waste from the tank, and to effect return flow of said waste to the tank,(b) other means to effect entry of oxidizing fluid into the waste flow,(c) said first means including distributed outlet means in the tank to discharge said oxidizing fluid in the form of small bubbles into the waste in the tank along with return of the flowing waste into the tank. The discharge into the tank causes a revolving flow of waste in the tank; and the outlet means may include a duct with a self-closing slit.
