  • Publication number: 20130020069
Abstract: A gas powered subsurface pump drive system for use in driving a subsurface pump positioned downhole a well and connected to completion tubing includes a pressure connected to the wellhead of the well in fluidic communication with the completion tubing. A pneumatic cylinder is supported above the pressure vessel and has a vertically positioned and reciprocal piston rod extending into the pressure vessel and is connected to an intermediate drive member extends through the production tubing and is connected to a piston rod the subsurface pump for conjoint reciprocation. A pneumatic drive system alternately provides pressurized gas to an instroke port of the pneumatic cylinder and to the pressure vessel to vertically reciprocate the piston rod, the intermediate drive member and the piston rod of the subsurface pump to pump formation fluid upwardly through the tubing.

  • Publication number: 20100071891
Abstract: An apparatus for pumping fluids from a well having a production tubing extending from a wellhead of the well downhole to a downhole location. A pump having a pump barrel connected to a bottom of the production tubing, and a plunger reciprocable within the pump barrel for lifting fluid from the bottom of the well up through the production tubing and to the wellhead as the plunger upstrokes, and for filling the barrel below the plunger as the plunger upstrokes. A sealed housing attached to the wellhead with the production tubing in fluid communication with the interior of the sealed housing. A cable drum positioned within the interior of the sealed housing. A prime mover operably connected to the cable drum for rotating the cable drum and a cable wound on the cable drum for winding and unwinding by rotating the cable drum. The cable extending downwardly through the production tubing and attached to the plunger.

  • Publication number: 20060045781
Abstract: A method and pump apparatus for removing formation fluids from a “liquid loaded” gas well is provided. The pump apparatus is adapted to be positioned downhole a well and is hydraulically operated to lift formation fluid, such as water from the well to “unload” the well and reestablish gas production. The pump apparatus includes a pump body, a hydraulic head connected to the pump body, and a displacement plunger operated by the hydraulic head to reciprocate the displacement plunger within pump body to draw-in and displace formation fluid from the pump apparatus. The pump apparatus is a fluid displacement type pump and has a low power consumption affording use of the pump apparatus at even the most remote well locations. Additionally, a method of operating the pump apparatus is provided.

  • Patent number: 6629566
Abstract: Method and apparatus for removing water from a gas well to permit efficient production of gas while protecting formation from introduced pressures. The apparatus comprises a one-way-valve that seals the casing from production zone when hydrostatic pressure of water from production accumulates in casing above production perforations and one-way-valve exceeds formation pressure. When the casing is sealed, a compressor pressurizes gas into the casing but not an exhaust conduit, the top of the casing being sealed around the exhaust conduit, permitting communication between the conduit and a suitable destination, such as via liquid separators on into sale pipeline. Accumulated water is caused to flow into the bottom of the exhaust conduit and out at surface to collection. When pressure within the sealed casing to the top end of exhaust conduit is equalized, the one-way-valve opens and regular production can resume.
